Best period this year.

Agreed. Hilights for me:

- Nolan with the hit of the year
- Reinhart is involved and playing well
- Jack's pass and Girgs finish
- none of the D are standing out - which is a good thing

Let's see if they can keep it up into period 2

Top 5 favorite bands when you were in college? (Kent St?)

You were a DJ, correct?

Sorry, just find it interesting when people a little bit older than me were living during the explosion of Alternative music while it shaped my life.

Very small school near Dayton.

The Clash
REM
The Replacements
Talking Heads
English Beat

I also listened to a bunch of more traditional rock from high school - The Who, Clapton, The Doors, Little Feat, and the Dead.

Honest Question: How do you feel about their album Reveal? After their bassist left the band?

Personally, I consider it to be one of their best and an album influenced by Radiohead, who are a band influenced by REM. They toured together (Radiohead opening in America for REM) for Radiohead's 1997 album OK COMPUTER and Michael Stipe was very influenced and touched by Thom Yorke, Radiohead's lead singer.

Thank you.

I have seen the English Beat about eight times. They have played here in Buffalo for four years in a row.

Never saw them with Ranking Roger, though.

I stopped paying attention to them in the early mid nineties. I hated Shiny Happy People and Stand and all that dreck.

They need to figure out a way for Kane to not get the puck outside the hashmarks. Inside the hashmarks, he's dynamite. Outside of them, he is worthless.

REM was my first favorite band and turned me to alternative music.

I quit when I saw that Shiny Happy People video. But Radiohead is one of my favorite bands currently, so I may need to look into this record.

Then if you listen to one thing I've ever said on here, I implore you to listen to Reveal. Imitation of Life is possibly one of their best, if not their best song.

R.E.M. Lyrics
"Imitation Of Life"

Charades, pop skill
Water hyacinth, named by a poet
Imitation of life
Like a koi in a frozen pond
Like a goldfish in a bowl
I don't want to hear you cry

That's sugarcane that tasted good
That's cinnamon, that's Hollywood
C'mon, c'mon no one can see you try

You want the greatest thing
The greatest thing since bread came sliced
You've got it all, you've got it sized
Like a Friday fashion show teenager
Freezing in the corner
Trying to look like you don't try

That's sugarcane that tasted good
That's cinnamon, that's Hollywood
C'mon, c'mon no one can see you try

No one can see you cry

That sugar cane that tasted good
That freezing rain, that's what you could
C'mon, c'mon on no one can see you cry

This sugarcane
This lemonade
This hurricane, I'm not afraid
C'mon, c'mon no one can see me cry

This lightning storm
This tidal wave
This avalanche, I'm not afraid
C'mon, c'mon no one can see me cry

That sugar cane that tasted good
That's who you are, that's what you could
C'mon, c'mon on no one can see you cry

That sugar cane that tasted good
That's who you are, that's what you could
C'mon, c'mon on no one can see you cry

I saw these two bands at the second Police picnic at the old Exhibition in Toronto back in 1982. To this day, I still think The Talking Heads is the best band i have ever seen live. One of my top 5. Also love the Clash, REM and the Beat. Kaiser, you and I must be about the same age.

They moved it from outdoors to quasi indoors. They were really awesome. Joywave too. Manchester Orchestra rocked hard as well.
