this looked all to familiar tonight...

1. preds glug up the neutral zone
2. preds pack it in in front of rinne and block alot of shots
3. poopty hawk pp
4. preds get their break go up 1-0
5. craw plays well enough to keep them in it
6. hawk passes get deflected or are behind

BUT then they get a break on a goal that should have been disallowed on a penalty by hartmann...and survive in OT

rinne 1 goal allowed in regulation in 3 strt at UC..

They didn't just survive OT - they dominated. Preds had maybe 20 second outside their own zone. As I said before, Preds are weirdly a bad 3-on-3 team.

Shot metrics break down for those interested.

Attempts:
67-68 all
48-56 ev
38-52 5v5

Scoring chances:
31-31 all
25-25 ev
18-24 5v5

High danger chances:
11-12 all
10-8 ev
8-8 5v5

They do need to work on their shot suppression but it should even out as the sample size gets larger. They really picked it up in the 3rd though to make it a bit more even overall. And despite the Preds having more attempts, the Hawks did a decent job of keeping the share of those being SCF or HDCF lower than I expected. And did alright making the most of less attempts at 5v5.

Hmmm. Well we will learn later on if true. Could Seabrook have an issue too

I bet many here were wondering if Blackhawks could get revenge with a victory - nah - well maybe they have Ellis out - but would Cubs beat Kershaw again.

Not happy with how Blackhawks played. Not happy with how cubs had Kershaw out and were ahead. Who had predicted correct winning teams tonight

I don't know what your expectations are of this team, but its a squad with a lot of new faces who have now played 6 games in 10 nights. There are adjustments to be made going forward in both how they play and definitely with some of the personnel currently on the roster. For example, Lance Bouma will probably be plying his trade elsewhere soon, just think Ryan Garbutt - here today, gone tomorrow.

At 4-1-1 they are doing what's necessary in early October - picking up standings points.

Meanwhile the annointed future Stanley Cup champions to be - the Edmonton Oilers are down 5-0 to Ottawa after getting whipped by Winnipeg. And the great McDavid aint looking so great these days.

The NHL isn't an easy league and the Predators and Wild aren't slouches - I suggest you consider the quality of opposition out on that ice. Sometimes those teams are the reason the Hawks don't look so good some nights.

I was wondering if you know (or can tell me where to find) what the Hawks PP shot total is for the year. I believe after tonight they're 3 for 27 on the PP. Thanks.

I decided to get away from the board and let the game play out...it's NHL hockey, nothing easy. Hawks are 4-1-1 and will get better. Fook the Predators.

You can find it in the team stats on NHL.com. Select Blackhawks from the Team drop-down and then Power Play from the Report drop-down (far right). Link below as well. And you were close, they're apparently 4 for 27.

Subban

We were the better team all night. Dominated. Calls didn't go our way. They (Hawks) always seem to find a way to win when they are outshot.

That guy's a chump. The Predators are borish poopbag franchise. STFU and move on Subban and the rest of assclowns who play for the Mustard (frank)ers

Good player, but a serial loser and a big mouth. STFU and take the loss like a professional.

Interesting game...

concerns certainly existing -
dreadful PP - which was 0-6.

Saw some complaints about Toews, but he was something like 18-8 at the dot this evening.

It was interesting because the Hawks didn't really show up until about half way through the third period. At which point they looked like they gave a frank and started coming on.

I was also just amazed how the Hawks continued to try to carry the puck in instead of dumping it every time the Preds lined up at the blueline. At some point you've got to chip and chase.

Crawford was stellar tonight. Hawks will need more of the same with the defense in front of him.

IMO Rutta has been the most dependable defenseman on the team thus far. StanBo with another great European UFA signing!

Love it- posts like this remind why I take the time to browse through and read posts here.

Can’t see Kane or anyone playing through injuries this early in the season.

While the Blackhawks are a team in transition, you certainly are correct that this is a tough league. My expectations/our expectations, indeed, should be somewhat tempered due to everything you said

We are fortunate to have two goaltenders capable of holding us in games. My hope is just to make playoffs. And, I am questioning whether Seabrook has slowed down that much. Better coaching would include forwards helping out defensively and a properly orchestrated power play minus Keith.

Sure glad they won ,did not see the game so should not be to judgmental . But seems they may have got a couple bounces ,that's the way it goes did not get any last game . Still not thrilled with Coach Q and is personnel decisions ,sitting Mur and playing Franson . PP is still same thing with same results ,definition of Insanity or bull headedness .Sending Vinny down . Sitting Murphy just seems like a shot across the bow of the good ship Bowman . Is Q going to drive another D man out like he did Daley

Oh, IR. Yes, though they initially thought he'd be back in like 4 days so idk.

According to Boyle and Mayers who were doing the Blackhawks extra last night Schmaltz "Could have played and was ready but Q weighed the options and felt not playing #8 tonight would allow him four additional days to rest before the St Louis game so he was scratched".........

I think he was around 4 of 8 at center and as a line with 12 & 88 they were able to get some good puck movement and Ozone time

But if you missed the game you missed the hit on ADB earlier in the game that he was slower to get up from Was glad to see #10 & #15 make their presence known in response....on a line with 88 & 38 I personally was not as assured.
