My Observations:
- Maybe it's the youth but this team has an attitude and swagger. Even down 3 they were still buzzing and controlling a lot of the game.
- Nice to see Filppula pot 2.
- Love the youth in the lineup.
- This team is so much fast compared to last year. Not just speed but the puck movement getting out of the zone and moving through the neutral zone.
- Elliott struggled. Thought the first hartnell goal was kind of bad and the game winner I thought he was too snug to the short side and gave forsberg the top corner.
- I can't put my finger on it but Gudas just isn't doing it for me. I can't say why. Maybe it's seeing the youth and just want Morin in. Not sure. Not sayin he is bad. Just seeing what all our rookies are doing I almost just would prefer to add one more and let morin play |

Honestly, as bad as the challenge was, the play on both sides of the puck, of Giroux and Voracek was worse. The spent more time flat footed and stationary waving their sticks than actually competing.
Liked the compete and that Patrick scored. |

Thoughts on last night's game:
1. Hak's asinine challenge was just flat out dumb. You have to protect that point on the road at all costs. The team is playing well and he gets some credit for that, but these types of mental mistakes are infuriating.
2. Elliott was bad, period. Not only on the brutally soft goal he allowed, but his rebound control was piss poor all night. Time for Neuvirth to step up.
3. Giroux was embarrassingly bad on the 3rd Preds goal and a nonfactor at ES all night.
4. Gudas was the worst Dman on the ice. Morin and Sanheim were a pair at LHV last year, may as well give them a shot to be our sheltered 3rd pair right now. The kid can't be any worse than Gudas who was out of position more times than I can count last night
5. Weal, TK and Patrick were fantastic, can't wait until more of the youth movement filters in.
6. Great to see Filppula going to the net and shooting on the pp. Also thought he had a solid game at ES too.
7. Another very good game from the 4th line which was something you never heard last year.
8. The resiliency of this team is fantastic. |

I'm going to maintain a positive outlook on this road trip and start to the season. They may be coming out at 500 however they have been in every game, and have impressed me considering the tough road schedule, quality of opponents, and having so many 1st and 2nd year players in the roster. I'm optimistic. Last time I had season tickets was 2010 and I got season tickets this year. |

I dont think G and V were bad, yes they had a bad shift or 3. They got caught out to long, they were gassed and the preds scored.
I watched the game with my 9 year old, he was more pissed than me, i had to calm him down
Keep in mind, the Preds were the best in the western conference last season, they were winless and it was their first home game. They brought their best.
Hak, no way you make that call and that is not a Monday morning quarterback call, its just risk vs reward. I'm sure he would agree today.
Gudas needs to get his shxt together. i think that is the 2nd or 3rd alley oop he has gotten burned on.
on the bright side, the Flyers were the better team from most of the game.

They are controlling large portions of these games which is a great sign. And not just corsi Bc they were a good corsi team last year, but seemingly better quality chances to my eye |

I'm glad more people are seeing how bad gudas has been this year. It's the 4th straight game where he has been out of position, making bad reads and chasing contact.
Some more questionable coaching decisions I thought was late in the game presumably what was supposed to be a final shift for sanheim gost before he paired hagg gudas as a shutdown pairing he puts them out together vs the preds hero line. They didn't score but it was an absolute Chinese fire drill and sanheim gost were both overwhelmed. Terrible coaching.
I still don't go Elliot in. Is he suddenly our starter? I don't think either goalie has played well enough to warrant being named a clear cut 1 and if one had to he argued for it would he neuvirth all the way |

I'm sure most of you will forget Hakstol by Saturday. I'm not just disappointed, I'm furious. His coaching decisions have been questionable right out of camp and to this point. I don't think Hak is any good. I never have... - SuperSchennBros
I slept on it....it was still a stupid call by our coach. Gotta let it go though. Hopefully they don't have too many more games where they give it away at the end. The second penalty by Macdonald was annoying....that never used to be a call when a guy stepped on a stick, factor in they already were calling Weise for a legit penalty it was weak at best. On Weise's penalty they could of easily called interference on the Preds dman as well.

agree on Gudas. He is getting caught way to frequently out of position trying to get that big hit. Hopefully the coaching staff focus's on that.

I had no doubt that the Preds were going to be gifted a PP before the game was over.. I tweeted so just a minute or two before the 5v3.. but good god were those brutal calls.
I cant tell you how many times I watched the Preds interfere with a guy gaining the blue line with out being called. Happened all damn game. Hell Laughton literally was hugged and wrestled and nothing was called. So it doesnt surprise me that when Weise was blocked and taken down by two guys nothing was called. It was surprising (albeit the right call in the right situation) that he got the lone penalty. Terrible.
Also, right before the GWG, Couts was clearly hooked behind the net. He screamed for a call and a mere seconds later smashes his stick after they net the game winning goal.
Between a few bad calls, a few weak goals, and (frank)ing Hack... they deserved a better fate. |

To me that was Macdonald's best 57 minutes this year, he did play well....Weise to played well, but that dumb penalty at that time of the game is something a vet should not be doing. |

The first Forsberg goal on the alley oop play is not on Gudas. He had his coverage. Leier got beaten to the net by Forsberg.

Went to bed before the start of the 3rd. Oh boy...doesn't sound pretty.
I think the focus on here today should be the poor play of our two highest paid players and our goalie, not Weise and Amac.

actually I couldn't believe Forsberg was on side...he was way to far in, unless the camera focus was wrong.

The Flyers will not make the playoffs if Giroux and Vorecek aren't their best players. To be fair it is early so hopefully they start to click.

The last 3 minutes of that game aside, last night was great. The Flyers are a relentless, young team that are going to be hard to play against night in and night out.
- First PP unit got some work done
- Second PP unit is going to be fun to watch. If all those kids (and Couts....is he still a kid?) can start making something happen its going to be really exciting.
- Teams right now are still focusing on the G-C-V top line and that's giving the other lines a little more room to run. We'll see if that holds up but having more than one line teams need to worry about is a good problem to have.
- I'm not sure who I like better TK or Weal. Both are relentless, Weal's puck possession in the corners is something to behold and TK is so fast and he's got some fire. I love seeing TK not backing down from players that are larger than him.
- Provorov, I don't know what to say. To watch someone so young have such poise is really amazing. You can see it in Hagg also, he's kind of a half second slower version of Provie, going to be great having those two stolid Dmen back there for years, regardless of how the others work out.
- Again bad decision to challenge aside, I like the fire Hakstol was showing during the last few minutes. I still trust him but Morin better get a game soon, having him sit all this time isn't good. |

Giroux and jake both had inconsistent games. Giroux everyone is talking about the play he was gassed at the end of a shift and got beat but nobody mentions his beautiful set up for the filp goal. They also don't mention Jake had a great night back checking and saved more than a few odd man rushes and took it the other way. They also were matched up against a pretty darn good line for Nashville most of the night with lavy getting the line changes being home. MacDonald had a strong game until his late penalty. Weise had a strong game until his late penalty. There's a reason they were both out there with 2 minutes to go to protect a lead. Neither are on my pooplist today. We don't have a significantly better option for MacDonald or Weise currently. Morin for gudas i would consider. Gudas would fetch a descent return in the trade market. |

I agree.
I am not a fan of either but can admit both have been solid players for the Flyers through the first 4 games of the season.
Weise has been setting up a decent amount of chances over the first 4 games of the season.
