Should JB persue in trading for Athanasiou? Wings in cap hell can't sign him. He's gone to Swiss league.

If so, what will do it? Tryamkin rights +....?

He wouldn't... would have to send a roster player back to even begin to fit him in, plus probably take on something from Detroit to help with their cap. I don't know much about him, is it worth even considering?

I wouldn't, not what he wants for money. Should be clearing roster spots in the coming seasons for more rookies.

The price mentioned by 1 GM is really high for AA though.

Of course it is, just like Duchene.

Let someone else get into a bidding war.

Makes zero sense right now for this team.

The stat watching, non-hockey playing pussies will never understand this. Every team needs a Dorsett. He would garner a decent pick at the deadline because actual hockey ppl understand his worth
- CanuckDon

This is (frank)ing gold.

Every team needs someone who can successfully distract the star player on the opposite team. Every team needs a player who can be intimidating and aggressive without being a goon.

He played one good game against the oilers and all of a sudden Dorsett is a commodity every NHL team must have. Holy poop that's so (frank)ing ridiculous. Dorsett is filler until something better comes along. Put the pompoms away.

But the most ridiculous statement in this entire poop post is the fact that you consider yourself "hockey ppl".

Ya, at this point, it's not worth what would seem like a fairly lateral move when the contract comes in. JB has done a good job of filling in that "missing" age range of mid-20 year olds the team was lacking, time to let the younger kids earn their spot in the next couple seasons.

Why wasn't JV tasked with playing against McDavid then?

The "process" I think is starting to take shape. Still early in the process but can see some direction.

Need a few more good drafts but you're right in that they are building through the draft it would seem. Let's see what Benning does in terms of the TDL and picking up more draft picks this year.

Did you not watch JV play? Why would you waste one of the few players on this team with some speed and skill on shadowing the opposite team's star? The canucks need offense desperately. Our team needs to outscore their defensive deficiencies.

JV is a player who might be able to fill that role. Dorsett can not so you deploy him in a role that suits his game. Basically, go skate next to that star player, shadow his every move, lay the stick or glove on him, and disrupt his ability to generate speed with the puck.

TBH I think the "process" has gone through some re-evaluation since JB and TL got here. But I do think ownership and the team's brain trust are now on the same page.

Speed and youth seems to be the direction now and that makes me very happy. But not so happy to interfere with my morning hate.

He only needs a 5 min video clip to evaluate a players worth.

If they shortcut the "process" this year by trading away picks in the top three round we can throw the whole process thing out the window. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen!

Better late than never! IMO you can't win these days, cap world, without first building through the draft. I still think Pettersson is gonna be the best center from the 2017 draft.
