I didn't get to watch the whole game, but the shot clock would indicate that the play was tilted a little towards the Canucks end (score effects maybe a bit too?). Point being, this isn't the most talented offensive team, so when you get chances you need to make good. A Grandlund or šŸ»šŸ§€ goal would have really put it away.

Surprisingly, the Oilers PP has been dead so far. It's easy to survive a game against the Oilers when the PP isnt killing you all night... obviously going Esa Tikanen on McDavid's ass all night 5 on 5 is effective. Canucks have had past success doing this as well.

Sure but Canuck PK with Marky tending played a role in limiting Oilers effectiveness on PP.

Im not. I was super impressed. I wasnt expecting that much entertainment and their compete level certainly was refreshing. If they lose 50 games but play like that, its certainly easier than losing like they have in the last 5 years.

the oilers back-up came in and played lights out , turning aside a lot of good scoring chances by the Canucks.

Also the using of Stecher/Hutton with the Twins and Vanek looked alright and their collective speed and skating made for some balance as a whole unit.

not many picked the Nucks to win this game..but i did.

Thanks for this. Nice to hear that the Comets did play well, I know the Marlies have been a tough opponent for them.

I haven't seen anything yet on scratches - just that Bachman's starting today in net as they split goaltending duties.

- Carol Schram

Notable scratches for utica are rodin, McEwen and weircoch

Bizarre situation with the Comets. I'd like to see Rodin and McEwen playing but they have too many vets/players on that roster.

Rodin especially should be an offensive force down there.

Good game. Would prefer a tank, but winning is fun too. The Lind and the NCAA boys are killing it right now.

Certainly nothing like when the Sedins would embarrass the oilers. That's all I ask for.

Rodin and Wiercioch just arrived and haven't practiced with team. So vet rotation nod goes to AHL regulars who have led the Comets.

As for MacEwen his spot was taken by Cull's guy who they just signed. Hope MacEwen gets up to speed with pro game and gets some games soon. Otherwise send him to Kalamazoo to work on what's missing.

Thanks for the article Carol - I was at the Utica game and they honestly had about 10 penalties & hit about 6 posts, they really dominated the Marlies, but the score suggested otherwise. Goldy had a beautiful goal, but like most games, I notice he rarely touches the puck but the few times he does, he tends to make something happen. Boucher should've had about 3 goals, but got robbed every time. Subban & Chatfield made some great outlet passes and Holm and Brisebois looked solid. I was bummed that, Rodin, McEwen, Laplante and Weircoich didnt play, hopefully they'll draw in today as I'm going again.

Please keep us posted on the game. Cheers!
