Fuk that, you need Tallon to oversee that area. - VanHockeyGuy
For sure. Matheson signed for 8 (frank)ing years |

That contract is a result of a desperate GM. - bloatedmosquito
That was clearly trying to make the playoffs, even if it meant the risk of saddling the team with a bad contract for years |

Fair.
Every fanbase has a group of fans like that though. I don't think everyone here fits that category, but some will always have more of "what have you done for me lately" outlook without factoring in sample size. - Nucker101
Dorsett was gone for quite a while and WD played him in the wrong roll. Sports is and should be a result oriented league. People easily forgot what made DD effective. |

I'm OK with Dorsett as a 4th liner and hope Green continues to use him as an agitator but I chuckle every time I read that he "protects" the team. I've played on hockey teams before with guys who care more about hitting than scoring. Guess what? Those guys are going to keep doing it, otherwise they're useless to their own team.
A smaller tough guy isn't going to deter (frank) all. - Nucker101
I believe he protects the team by being the fist magnet... he's not an enforcer. Hard to beat up our kids when you are in the box with a swollen fist from Dorsett's face.
This is why I laughed so hard last season when dozens of Leafs fans decended on me on FB when Dorsett went after Kormer last season. No exaggeration here... the accusations were " Dorsett is an enforcer picking on a guy who doesn't fight"
Dorsett gives 20 pounds to Kormer and an inch or something like that. It was an agitator going after an agitator... and the fact that they all cry when their agitator can't turtle out of a fight and is forced to defend himself is the cherry on top. Any agitator that has that kind of rep needs to be pummelled

Not one fan wanted that contract it was done because he had chemistry with the twins in international play.

100% But almost every NHL player that's been in the league long enough has streaks where they look better than they really are and worse than they really are. It's important not to overreact to those streaks.

So they signed him for 6 years to play on a line with our 36 year olds?
Sounds like my type of logic when I was 10 years old playing NHL on XBox |

I think LE will be welcoming a trade out soon. He wanted to sign here for the same reason the GM's and the Sedin's wanted him... past chemistry. None of that matters now. Both sides must see it didn't and won't work out. Benning won't be able to cover this blunder up... maybe it's the owner on this anyways...
I think there's one thing we can be thankful for, since it didn't work out, it most likely kills the idea of re-signing the Sedins. Success with that trio surely would have resulted in a new Sedin contract going the distance with LE... |

I'm just stunned that Dorsett goes from team punching bag to hero after just one good outing. Makes me think some in this group are no different from the leaf fan we've been calling out for years because of the same reaction to the slightest sign of something positive.
Hypocrisy at it's finest. - bloatedmosquito
I'm not sure where you got the "hero" part. He plays a role on a team that not a lot of players can play. Then he was a bad example of that type of player, so other teams have that same type of player. So every team has a "filler" role?
The last time Dorsett was cast properly he played a 4th line role with Brad Richardson as his center. 12 minutes a night. Rotating other winger, put up 25 points and Vancouver won their division.

Now he's going to quote you as saying he is a Hart candidate.
Wait, was it Bi-Polar Mondays or Tuesdays? We shouldn't let traditions slip away... Bloated is a traditionalists. |

Why would any opposing GM take on that albatross contract? I'd demand a good prospect or a 1st to do the Canucks that favour.

Too much turkey will do that to people. I guess we should use terms like "useless role player".
Reid Boucher can score, he should be in the league. Not passing through waivers. |

My point. If JB moves it, it's going to be ugly. Owner/GM/Player will all be on the same page I think though. Moving on post Sedins.

If that signing ends up costing a rebuilding/retooling team a good pick or prospect....just lol...thats all I gotta say |
