2 words - George Parros.
Take justice into your own hands.

- powerenforcer

I don't know what this means because Parros has been pretty tough handing out suspensions so far. If that continues, then any player taking it into their own hands is just going to hurt their own team.

Personally, I'd like for the Hawks to play tough (don't mind a little extra behind their checks) but then hit the Jackets where it really matters - the scoreboard.

Replay showed 8's head move pretty forcibly by the impact- I would guess that has to be exactly right- precaution.

I'm assuming they are taking is cautious with Schmaltz rather than it being too serious at this point. Typical borderline Jack Johnson special, Schmaltz never touched the puck.

So far the Hawk's "Awful" D looking awfully good. I hope this continues because the D is moving the puck so much better than last season and it is driving the transition.

An emotional moment for Eddie O. and Foley still acting like an ass. Glad to see Eddie looking good.

My Dad's a colon cancer survivor. It was hard watching Eddie during intermission. Prayers to Eddie, and all affected by cancer.

How's he acting like an ass? He's good friends with him. Would you rather he treat your how he normally would, joking around? Or tip toe around the 500 lb gorilla in the room?

Gotta be the hit. He was moving just fine in warm-ups and the short time before the hit.

He got called back to the bench and room by the trainers so maybe it's a precaution thing.

Thanks. Hopefully that's all it is. Need #8 rolling.

PSA the new look Hawks lay the body. Frank lucky bounce. Toews with a one timer though! Good to see!

Lucky bounce but 71 walked Murphy wide. I thought he had been playing well, so I'll give him a pass there, because it was lucky and Kempny did fall.

Murphy and Kempny look solid. Few mistakes but they are playing an aggressive style. It isnt the stick check and play passive style anymore. Kane. He wants to be the best in the NHL every year. Seeing Toews bury a one timer top shelf is a great sign. When was he last time we saw him do that??

I'm a big fan of Forsling and Rutta right now. Good mobility and taking load off #7 and #2. That pair is +3 tonight, that is a great start to the season.

Agree. That wasn't a good shift for 5 and 6, but otherwise not a bad show for them so far. Rutta may be the best of the bunch, dude just plays an incredibly solid, smart game. Gus is actually hanging not bad tonight despite a better effort from CBJ than Pitt gave. Play has tilted slightly to CBJ this period, would like to grab some momentum back.

Frank Jack Johnson. That was a (frank)ing cheap shot interference/head shot on Schmaltz who has been beaten up through 4 periods. Patrick Kane sending a message to McDavid that the Art Ross trophy is going to be a battle. 88 is unbelievable

I thought that Foley could have acted a little more somber. To me, he appeared to be just as conscious of the cameras as he was of Eddie, and was using that loud mouth shtick that he also uses during the game.

I can't stand Foley, the last time that guy sounded good was when Tallon was in the booth with him.

Is Rutta +7 for the season? 4 against PIT and 3 tonight?

Wouldn't shock me. Looks like he has been in the NHL for 5 years. It's truly remarkable how composed that guy is.

Seriously- don't go there. in 85-86 That second line all scored at last a ppg -with Troy Murray getting 99 points, and Fraser had 68 points in 61 games. Not a goon... just a LW is all. Granted it seems like he was injured all of the time.
- steve-hist-sdc

Had season tickets and he just rode shotgun. Probert was a point/second assist machine in his early years with Detroit.

Hawks traded for him because he was beating up the Norris division goons.

He was no AL Secord.

JJ or anyone that would like add there 2 cents in. First I know its only one game but what is the most pressing need right now for the hawks to become a legitimate contender, is it defense a center who could win face-offs at or more than 50% or top six lw winger with size and speed (roadgrater)? Looking forward to tonight game good measuring stick against a fast big team and d isn t to bad goalie one of the best.

Hawks win 3-2 just my opinion!!

i thought it was border line hit...but Int should have been the call but that would have been nullified with the goal..

hawk transition and forecheck have been outstanding these 2 games...

saads 7 goals (HT preseason 1) have not totaled more than 15 feet from the net...whoaa

Olczyk didn’t die - it wasn’t a wake - he was happy to see his friend feel good enough to go to the game an be interviewed.
