Wtf is a lateral AHL trade?
- Nighthawk

Lateral trade of talent between AHL depth players. In this case Boucher for an AHL Center who can help develop Canuck NHL prospect wingers.

I don't know man, that list that came out a couple of years ago that showed if the Canucks just drafted the highest point producing CHL'er at their draft slot or the highest ranked player they would've drafted way better than they actually have since the Burke era.

Frankly, it was embarrassing to see that.

Canucks scouting has been terrible for a long, long time. Hopefully Benning/Brackett prove to be better.

Believe it or not I almost got than one right, I thought Theodore and if he was taken it would be Horvat or Lazar.
Well Theodore was still available and Lazar ...well enough said.

Also Bobby Orr is greatest of all time.

Yeah, Lazar had some hype back then too. People thought he and Horvat were in the same tier

An NHL contract for an AHL contract?
Is that even possible or allowed?

Not sure too many AHL teams will trade future NHL forwards for current players who can't seem to stay in the NHL

Lazar would be a nice addition for our Utica team.

Congrats, you're now officially the most annoying poster.

I assume that was your goal?

I deleted that post, once I realized I was wrong. I make an occasional mistake but own up to it when I do.

I would just have replied now and said no worries. But you had to throw in another unjustified jab. How about the snark of telling me I can't count. Never mind. I do say my bad when I get a fact wrong. But that doesn't accompany condescending WTF attitude. This last part not directed to you but other post retorts.

Sucks that he was before my time, but there's some great full games of him playing during his prime on youtube that I've watched. You could see and hear the excitement in the building when he had the puck.

Side note: cellphones have ruined sports crowds, concerts, festivals, etc.

- Nucker101

In my Vancouver days I had the honor of being at Bure's first game. The excitement in the crowd from his rushes, even though he didn't score, still resonate.

For a franchise so snookered in high end talent it truly gave hope. Frack the NHL and Rangers for robbing us of that game 7.

I answered your post and see it had no deference in it. The WTF reference was not to you. It's for a poster who often uses it as part of his cowbell tactics so as to annoy and cajole for his demented entertainment. I give you, even though you don't give me, the benefit of the doubt. But whatever man.

I don't think Rueben was indirectly talking about you at all. I think you owe him an apology. Unless someone who continuously has beef with you on here, makes a sarcastic comment that could possibly be about you, you shouldn't assume everyone indirectly talks about you when they say something jokingly.

Exactly. That's what a lateral trade is in making one of AHL type for AHL level talent. Teams do it because they have a need for a different look. Where it would help develop other players who are their true NHL prospect hopefuls on the roster. Worst case they do it for call up depth if injuries hit for guys capable of playing now in NHL over prospects that are not ready.

In Boucher's case maybe a team needs a guy with a big shot to develop their AHL prospect playmakers on the PP or whatever exchange of player role type it brings.

Ruben has used that line on me several times. So no, it was totally directed at me. But you seem to like to judge me so carry on. No issue with your typo either.

What is the difference between an AHL type & an AHL level talent player? Vague.
State contract types & back it up if acceptable to consumate trades by the NHL.
Idk one way or the other tbh.

I guess it's because it's a follow up from previous posts in thread that I didn't repeat it in explanation.

But in reference to Boucher, had the label he has NHL talent but is below that in his commitment to fitness, training, etc.. Where his type is found in the AHL not meeting expectations. But say Banks or Megna are diciplined hard workers but their talent isn't NHL level.

Not contracts. Just where players stand in organization. There are plenty waived and in AHL depth roles on other teams.
