One of those shoulda woulda coulda moments. Edler had a great 2012 but hasn't had a sniff of a year like that since. If only Gillis could have known but it is what it is no one has a crystal ball.

People are forgetting that Edler waiving, let alone waiving to those specific teams with high picks back in 2012 was pretty much impossible.

It is the only reason I will watch EDM games if they are on. McDavid's speed and offense reminds me of when I used to watch Bure do much of the same.

Sucks that he was before my time, but there's some great full games of him playing during his prime on youtube that I've watched. You could see and hear the excitement in the building when he had the puck.

Side note: cellphones have ruined sports crowds, concerts, festivals, etc.

I wasnt concerned they wouldnt be. But if they click best with Carcone, Molino, Banks, Archibald, Cassels, or whomever then those are the guys that should play; sit the rest of them that dont fit in. Those players succeeding is most important for the franchise, not being fair to AHLers or fringe guys - they are a dime a dozen

Sure that's the case. The vet limit logjam is a seperate wrinkle. Why AHL or fringe guys like Banks and Archy are an issue in this development endeavor. They usually are mentor support guys to those guys we need to succeed. Molino and Carcone are on the depth role players development radar for Canucks. Cassels is injured on SOIR, probably gone for most of season, and not likely extended.

Frankly, it was embarrassing to see that.

Canucks scouting has been terrible for a long, long time. Hopefully Benning/Brackett prove to be better.
