I liked some of what Gillis did but his drafting was sh1t
- VANTEL

Going to like and dislike everything about every GM and coach. Now Van has a GM that is a good scout but poop at other things.

I like JB's drafting, his contracts and most of his trades i'm not in love with. If we could have Burke and JB be "Co Gm's"

They said on Global last night the home opener still isn't sold out. I wonder why.

I think I've got this morning hate thing down pat

- LeftCoaster

Maybe the Lions are getting the entertainment $, if that's the case they are facked.

If this team had BB Bo Granlund Archie Jake Burmistrov Sven and got rid of the old guys I would be a paying customer . I would probably go to 6 games or so. This current line up with the old players as the main part I wouldn't even go if someone bought me a ticket. I am a year or two away from going back to the Rog.

Burke
- VANTEL

Burkie was a dink but He's one of the only GM's who built a core primarily through the draft. Keenan left him in a good spot with some of his wheeling and dealing though. Bure also wanting out brought back Jovo which was a great trade!!

Vancouver must be full of them then

Last time I checked Canucks are having a big big issue trying to sell tickets

- VANTEL

I'd go tonight if I could, but some commitments and will pvr and catch up with the game in progress.

too many casual fans. and maybe fans is too strong a word.

Whether they are losing because they are rebuilding, or trying to be competitive and don't have the depth. The losing is what keeps fans away. This city won't support a losing team.

That's what I figured.

Only good thing Burke did here was swindle that deal for the Sedins. He's actually massively overrated. Takes credit for that 2007 Ducks team that was built by Bryan Murray and did zilch in TO with a fresh start. Jury is out on his impact in Calgary. Burke left Nonis a bigger mess here than Gillis left JB...

I am not so high on JBs drafting when I see lots of other players playing in the NHL now and we don't . I think he is highly over rated until we see them here playing and sticking.

If the lines go like this, just a guess, I see too many old guys making too much money for a team that's suppose to be rebuilding.....no? This is why I didn't and still don't like the Vanek signing!

Dany Henrik Vanek
Baertschi Horvat Boeser
Eriksson Grandlund Gagner
Burmistrov Sutter Dorsett

I think that's complete nonsense. People will support if they see a process, I just don't see that with Benning and Linden, therein lies the problem for most people I'm guessing.

Again, Ray Ferraro was talking about this the other day on sports radio. Which lends itself to some of what we're talking about with guys like Sutter, Vanek and Eriksson.

I'm not sure how you can rate something that you are waiting for it to happen?

A prospect pool that went from basically last to a top 10 by critics who thinks JB sucks as a GM.

278 games from his first draft. Ever since then he has taken the draft and develop approach. Wait till players are NHL ready.

You're really underselling what Burke did in Vancouver! He drafted the Sedins, Bryan Allen, Ruutu, Kelser, Umberger and Bieksa. When Nonis took over a month before the 2004 draft he said he didn't have time to prepare for it so they stuck to his buddy Burkes list and drafted Corey Schneider, Elder, Hansen and Mike Brown.

In 2002 he traded Peter Schaefer for Sami Salo, in 2000 he traded Mogilny for Brendan Morrison.

When he was fired in the spring of 2004 he left the franchise is a very good position with the above mentioned players. The 2004/05 year was a lockout year but in 2005/06 when they resumed play the Canucks had a 42 win 92 point season. In 2006/07 they had a 49 win season and 105 points. The next year they had an off year with 88 points but then they went on their run to being the best team in the league.

He may still be with the club if Gaglardi won that lawsuit.
