If the lines go like this, just a guess, I see too many old guys making too much money for a team that's suppose to be rebuilding.....no? This is why I didn't and still don't like the Vanek signing!

Dany Henrik Vanek
Baertschi Horvat Boeser
Eriksson Grandlund Gagner
Burmistrov Sutter Dorsett

Vanek will probably get us our 4th back. The real opportunities will present themselves once the injuries start again.

Benning has traded 2 players in 3 years at TDL , if we are a bubble team I expect us to be buyers

Whom? I know you think i'm wrong, it's funny because even an NHL coach doesn't think he can but I know this is an opinion page.
- manvanfan

Burmistrov for one, and I don't think you're in a position to tell me what Travis Green thinks. Don't kid yourself, the NHL is an old school business, they're playing guys ahead of him simply because they're more experienced, not necessarily better.

I don't think Jake will ever be what they'd hoped when they picked him at #6, but I think he can be a good middle six forward. IMO Eriksson and his 6 million dollars should be playing with the Sedins, not on the third line, and Virtanen should be on the third line. Vanek should be in Europe.

Herein lies my issues with Benning and his signings.

Too early to tell, I really can't see this group as a bubble team. Even if that was to happen it would most certainly result in another first round thrashing.

But we will get our top 5 pick
- VANTEL

IMO, yes we will, but if that's the case why not play Virtanen when he's showed up earned and spot? Vanek was always insurance incase kids weren't ready, but now he gets to play at a kids expense because of his past.

People can say he was true to his word and made room for kids if they earned it, but did he really? Just food for thought on an early Saturday morning

You're not in a position to say whether a player should play or not. I don't need to "kid" myself, I understand it and i'm okay with it. Thanks for telling me things I already get though.

JV will get his time, when the coach feels he's ready.

Tonight? Half of this group will be hammered by the afternoon.
We need a good melt down on opening night.

I am on your side . The season hasn't even started and I am already thinking 82 more games. This Mgmt group really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I am hoping some don't return next season.

WD lived right up to his firing that Megna and Chaput were good ideas while his pundits asked what the hell are you thinking? Pundits sometimes are right too.
- VANTEL

lol…you don't actually think WD asked MNGT for guys like Chapoo and Magma right?

Ray Ferraro was talking about this the other morning, every year young players who are better than some veteran players get sent down because of contractual issues as NHL contracts are guaranteed. Benning's backed himself into a corner with some of his contracts in my opinion.

Grandlund, in my opinion, can do what Sutter does for a fraction of the cost, the trade for him (Grandlund) was excellent, but, it's negated by the fact Sutter is still around sucking 4+ million dollars out of the club.

Benning's paying Eriksson 6 million dollars to play on the third line, the underlying numbers someone from the Vancouver sports media showed that Eriksson was actually a better fit than Grandlund with the Sedins because they allowed way less goals. For that money he should be a top six forward.

Virtanen should be on the third line and Vanek should be somewhere else other than Vancouver. Playing Jake because he earned a spot with his work over the summer and in camp is more important IMO than getting a third round pick for Vanek.

Hopefully this is Benning's last year in Vancouver, and Trevor Linden can go (frank) himself as well
