Last season at this time people were freaking about Jake not getting enough ice time while being in the line up.... even though he looked like Mariah Carey from the waist down....

But is it fair to say those guys are viewed more as playoff type of players than Vanek?

I'm just of the opinion if the Canucks want to sell something to the fans they'd be wise to get the kid into games. If he doesn't produce then fine, sit him or send him down, but don't just sit him when he outplayed most veterans in preseason.

I was about to call you a buzz kill...

It wasn't a shot. The only one I *remember* making a big deal of it was Nuc4u but I put a end to it with the thunder thigh pic that's been reposted a few times here. Not that he was being stubborn. Just needed a concrete reason respectfully.

I hearya but who do the Canucks try to satisfy?
The draft & develop & patience?
Play the kids no matter?
Reneg on if make the team & send them down anyways?
No matter what JB/TG will do what they think is best.

Its early

Outplayed? Not hard to do when the veterans aren't totally into pre-season and trying not to get injured before the season starts. He SHOULD be outplaying them when he's trying to earn a job. So he's sitting for the first game, that's not a surprise seeing as he's the 13th forward. TG will probably be rotating him in and out of the lineup along with Burmistrov so that he gets games and TOI but will have lots of practice time to work on the things he needs to.

We are all Canucks you are not allowed to question dumb moves.

It is probably nothing but it is a headscratcher.

For sure.

My expectations and hopes are not the same. I'm hoping he has a decent season and at the TDL and the pickings are slim, there are more than one team with very little cap space and no room next season so the rental gets a little bit of bidding going... a team may need to up a 2nd in a scenario like that. What I expect... that is a long shot and a standard 3rd is acceptable. He's not going to get less than a 3rd even if he only shows as little as just contributing. If he's invisible... sure a 4rth or Benning just lets him walk or something disappointing. This is a low risk investment that most likely lasts less than a season. It wasn't necessary nor is it any kind of set back.

You know what will happen if they send him down?

He'll have to come back because he'll forget his stuff again.

Green is just being typical. I expect nothing else.

I said many times when Green was being discussed for the future... people are assuming he's going to be different. We'll see. All his strengths they pointed too are the same strengths WD had in the AHL and WD left the AHL with more success. I'd expect just as many head scratchers coming as WD to be honest...

What they meant about him forgetting his stuff was him forgetting his skinny pants. His Miriah pants would look pretty silly after 3 weeks of bag skating in Utica....

The thing is sitting Jake is a head scratcher but it is game one. Regardless of the motif t will get a good part of the fans asking WTF.

Personally I thought Jake was the best forward in preseason but that's my opinion. It is too soon to assume anything and could be as simple as everyone will take a turn sitting out . Need to see what is going one.
