I see Gagner as filler because the sedins will retire at the end of the year
- CanuckDon

We'll see. I think there's a decent chance they're back on 1 year deals if Linden is still here.

My take on the PP is not so the Sedins but its Edler who is. We have no threat with a big shot & explains why JB when asked what he wants was a RHD difference maker. Until we have someone on the point other teams have to respect its the down low cycle we r stuck with & thats the Sedins sad to say. Now that said its on Newell to make some hay & get many more goals out of it somehow. I don't for a moment believe it will be like WD going 82 games like a stubborn mule.

Brock is the best sniper on the team and he's not on either unit. And he's a righty to boot.

Yeah, I kind of have to shake my head when people think he's a lock to get moved for a 2nd or 3rd. He got a 3d + AHL scrub last year and that was during a 15 goal in 48 game pace with Detroit. How the hell will he get the same or more this year if he's producing less and a year older?

I don't see him producing 15 goals in VAN during the first 48 games here.

Why is every other team and situation better then the Canucks?

Problem with that PP is Danny Hank and Gagner are all passers. Vanek is your guy in front and Edler who couldn' hit the side of a barn is the trigger man. Everyone ripped WD but here we go again
- VANTEL

We have the trigger men pretty much but not the dynamic playmaker to pull it off let alone a Weber shot on the point. Somehow we need to find it within but we r limited while we wait it out for prospects to season more. I'll say we will see BB out there soon enough as sime time goes by. The 2nd PP should get more TOI & not the Sedins taking all the time like last year. Shorter leash is what i predict & the 2nd unit against ops lesser PK should pay dividends.

Because our top 3 scorers had the following goal totals:

1. 20 goals
2. 19 Goals
3. 18 Goals

The chances of Vanek having 15 in his first 50 games here is slim

Nothing is static. Situations change and are fluid. For example, all 3 of those had not made those totals before in their young NHL careers.

Problem is that he's not on either unit. On the bright side, Green is much more willing to shakeup his lines/lineup than WD ever was so eventually it should sort itself out.

So you disagree that Vanek is unlikely to have similar success here as he did during the first 48 games he played in last year with Detroit?

I'm fine with signing him, but people need to temper expectations for the draft pick we'll get for him.

TG said he will be mixing the lines up and expects players to play with anyone and compete with hard work. This probably applies to PP as well and don't see any of the units as set.

Agreed. I just think it's bizarre not to have your best shooter on the PP to start the season. Especially when it's a young guy who the team should put in a spot to succeed.

I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

LE Hank Dank
Stecher Sutter

I'm thinking a 3rd at most if he's having a solid season and potentially nothing or a late pick if he's having a meh season.

I just hope the team goes this route more often instead of trading picks for vets or overpaying vets on mid or long term deals.

On another note I'll say BB will be a top leader by the end of the season.
The kid has jam & poise & maturity. We all luv Bo but BB has traits that speak volumes & will be a very special player.

I expect the scoring to be spread out and to be by committee. Not a top heavy 30+ type of 3/4 goal scorers on this team.

What the rate is among indivual scorers is hard to say. But seeing a bunch of 15-25 goal scorers across the board is likely.

This should bode well for Vanek to be in the mix as one of the contributors.

I just hope people don't jump on the kid when he was some invisible games. A lot of people who watched him in college all agree that he's the kind of guy who can be quiet for a long stretch and then suddenly snipe a goal. He's not a guy who's going to be noticeable all the time, but at the end of the day he produces.

If he can score on the PP it will decide his value imo
I'll predict 25 goals for him. PP time will be the key of course & his contract in the end is the bonus.

Bang on 👍
Insulate him for awhile & let him do his thing & snipe like the danger he is. Ppl cannot expect marvels out of him every shift when its not his style. As he gets more experience he will keep growing & impressing but no rush. The next season & beyond is when it will matter more so & when he will really blossom into a top 3 W.

Agree. The casual fan may not get it. BB's not a flashy player or one that dominates play. But he is a smart and dangerous player who when he strikes it's lethal.
