Sad to see you go, I've enjoyed your work. Not exactly surprised after seeing you physically covering Vegas though. Who will be taking over? |

Also, season preview is spot on. I'm buying this team, buying them as a 3-4 in the Pacific playoff team. And once they're in the playoffs, anything can happen. With the sudden possible depth on defense, we could even see someone like Gravel moved for an offensive player if we think we are capable of making a run. |

Before you ride off into the Vegas sunset, what was the over/under pick on Muzzin? Is he and AMart going to give up the ghost again this year? Or will they get it together as a pair? After taking Muzzin in my fl the last few years, I went with AMart this season, thinking he'll get about the same TOI and more PP time than Muzzin... |

Thanks! Unfortunately, I have no news on that.

I dunno Muzz's over/under, but I think he bounces back this year. He and A-Mart played well together in 14-15, I see nothing fundamental to indicate that they can't do it again. As for the PP, LA will try the 4F-Doughty as 1st unit to start. If that takes off, both Muzz and A-Mart's fantasy value probably isn't as high.
Of course, you can always ask me Kings questions in my VGK HB articles. I'll still be watching.

What was the structure of the PP2? I thought I saw AMart getting PP time on that unit, but now I cant recall if they were going 2D or 4F...

From what I recall, 2nd unit was 3F-2D with both Muzz/Mart.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll give Tanner a third team.
It would be entertaining at least. - PancakesPenner
Would that really be luck? |

Well, he wouldn't be the worst we've had. In my opinion that title is, and forever will be, Matthew Barry's. |

Regarding the identity of the next blogger, I have my own announcement to make...
Just kidding. That would be pretty funny, though.
Also funny is that I gave Sheng my biggest compliments just last week. Why does everything that I love die on me?
Seriously, since it's the main topic of the blog and I don't know when I'll next be able to share my thoughts, I'm afraid that Blake has blown his one chance to keep Doughty. This season is critical to convincing Drew to re-sign, but all that Blake has done is hire a rehash coach and add 35-year-old Cammalleri. That doesn't come close to cutting it, IMO, not with how the other teams in the conference have been getting better. Even if the team is better, we're probably still talking about a 1st or 2nd round exit and I doubt that that's enough to give Doughty the impression that the team has better years ahead. He says that he wants to retire with the Kings, but he's not going to want to hang around a declining team while he's in his prime and there are exciting teams like Toronto that do have their best years ahead of him. Blake may pay for not doing enough to improve the team this offseason when, a year from now, he's faced with the headache of a Doughty who keeps turning down contract offers (as he did the last time around) while time is running out to trade him for max value.
Anyways, good luck, Sheng. |

Even if the team is a little better, it's not likely to be significantly better or look like one that has better years ahead of it. Doughty says that he wants to retire with the Kings, but he's not going to want to hang around a declining team while he's in his prime and there are exciting teams like Toronto that do have their best years ahead of him. Blake is liable to pay for his decisions this offseason a year from now when it becomes a headache to re-sign Doughty (who held out into training camp on his last contract) and he has to seriously entertain the idea of trading him before it's too late.
Anyways, good luck, Sheng. - Osprey

Thanks... but you also just endorsed bringing Berry back, so I'm not sure if I should be that flattered . Just kidding.
Sheng, have you thought about simply holding down the fort here until a replacement is found? Just a short blog once or twice per week to recap the last game or two would be fine. No interviews, time-consuming analysis or deep evaluation would be necessary, just something for people to comment on and keep discussion alive. That's assuming that you would still enjoy spending a small fraction of your time talking Kings and, certainly, don't feel any pressure to. |

While I will still enjoy talking Kings -- feel free to come into my Vegas blogs to talk Kings or chat with me on Twitter -- if my name's on a blog, I want it to be my best. My approach has always been to have something new, something no one else has in every piece that I write. That something new could be very small or big, but it's only in my article. I don't like writing filler.
Also, I won't be able to watch every Kings game, at least in a timely fashion. So my ability to even write "filler" would be impaired. |

AHHHH FFS PENG!!???!?!!! really? poopballspissfemale genitaliaRichardturds. How dare you jump ship!
I really enjoyed your work, I am a little pissed we won't have a consistent blogger to read, but I understand its rough when you get a whopping 7 comments per thread.
anyhoo...
The test for the team is everything you mentioned, the first 20 games are key, then fighting the December slump and then managing to not poop the bed in the last 15 games is going to be huge. I know that covers the whole season, but they kind of have to break it into thirds like that and measure their success in increments.
as for Doughty, I say we wait a 1 1/2 , if the team is threatening for cups then we sign him, if at that point we are still struggling, trade him to a team that will over pay and take one of our crappier contracts. |

Thanks! My departure has nothing to do with the number of comments. You guys who did comment were always passionate and dedicated and those are my favorite guys to interact with anyway. And I get less comments on my VGK posts too lol. No, like I said, it's all about coverage opportunities, access. |

That's completely understandable. I forgot that writing is basically your job, so future employment could hinge on keeping the quality high. Writing isn't my job, but I'm similar in that I'm a perfectionist when it comes to it and would rather write nothing than write something lazily, so I understand.

Las Vegas does provide "access" to a lot of things that are hard to turn down |
