I understand the point about simply not making a trade that involves a C prospect. Looks like management has no time for kids that go out of their way to alienate themselves from the team. Don't forget, McCann made his distaste for the team that drafted him known from the very second his name was announced.

Guddy is still young. He'll be part of a young core. There isn't this big age gap between McCann and Guddy. Games played makes it look that way.

You are essentially worrying about a problem that applies to existing young players on any rebuilding team... they age while the team drafts... Horvat is 22... Guddy 24, Boeser is 21, JV 21. That's a young core with younger players coming in behind them. In a few years, middle aged players like Horvat and Guddy will lead as the vets... and be well under 30 still.

McCann is young and stupid. I think many of these young 1st round prospects come with a bit of attitude. Always told they are the best and so on...

I don't think you toss out a young first rounder just because he's conceded.

I think Gud has shown us all he's got. Hell, you even have some in here including him in trade proposals. Time will tell.

You said you are disappointed because you didn't see Canuck development work with that type of project but you forget we traded for Goldobin who was selected 3 spots after him and he has an attitude also

People put Guddy in trade proposals because he is a UFA next year and not worth the money he will be demanding

Have I ever dumped on Goldobin? I think I'm the one who keeps saying play the kids no matter the cost.

I never said that. I said you were upset because CANUCKS didn't try to work with a
kid with that type of attitude, I am pointing out they are currently working with a similar type player.

Oh, yes very true. And I like that. I mentioned before that I think old school hockey philosophy/mentality gets in the way of mentoring the modern, young prospect.

I'm guessing that old school mentality got in the way of rational thought in regards to McCann. Glad to see signs that our team's management group are willing to adapt.

...and Virtanen who has reined in his attitude as well. The Canucks worked on it... here he is and you won't find anyone questioning it at the moment.

One of McCann's teammates even said he would sit by himself away from the team deliberately... it sounds like he was extra douchy...

I wouldn't complain if they were more patient with him but between his attitude and the need for a NHL ready *young* Dman to be added to the core... the draft seemed fair. We wait to see how McCann turns out just like we wait to see if Guddy fills the role he was brought in for. If he walks... the trade was a complete disaster. I'll be the first to declare it.

Pedan said McCann was a punk that thought he was better than everyone. Also, Bartkowski's mom

Nice signs below that TG is taking Canucks in different direction. That at least for style the games should be more enjoyable to watch.

He wants to play fast, and he wants an uptempo game,” Tanev said of Green. “We want to be up in the attack. It will definitely be a change from last year.”

“It’s aggressive. It’s really aggressive,” Gudbranson said. “Last year, we kind of set back and let the system take over. Now, if you see the play, you make the play and you win your battle."
