I too used to think teams would be "screwed" by big money contracts but not one single team has been. There are so many Lup-Holes and ways to deal with the cap that I'm not worried what the big 3 and/or Gardiner get paid.

Id much rather see Leivo in the lineup over martin, but we know that will never happen but the lines would be unreal, 4 lines of scoring touch and defensive capabilities would be pretty sweet. (Leivo and Kadris chem together is pretty good)

Yeah okay be delusional leaf fan. You cant say your players better then so and so but then say they will get paid less because we are the leafs. You just signed Marleau for crazy money to get him to play for you. To keep your group you will have to pay for it and it wont be cheap. Matthews will start negotiating at 13mill plus and he might get it.

Zaits was in the top pair with rielly and poop the bed. Paired with Gards, he played better

Didn't work for the Penguins once they're top 2 guys had huge contracts taking up a lot of cap space. Chicago is in a similar boat now.

Pens win back to back when making 7 or 8 million isn't 15+ percent of the cap.
