We'll see. All I know is I'd rather have 2017 Ryan O'Reilly that 2017 Patrice Bergeron.
- jcragcrumple

That's because you are an idiot. Bergeron struggled for 3/4 of the season and still managed to keep up with Ryan O'Reilly. RoR had 3 more points. Bergeron is typically a 60-70 point player. The only reason to want RoR over Bergy at this point is due to age. Which means Bergeron is currently better. Players do not magically decline at 32. They all decline at different ages. Jagr didnt decline until last season where he was what 42?

How So?

Oreilly is younger and had better numbers last year.

Bergeron is declining. This is whole thing with Boston. Everyone thinks they're better than they are because a lot of their players used to be really good, and are now just good

- jcragcrumple

He didnt though.

If we are talking about the next 5 years, because of age, absolutely.

But Bergeron is one of the best players in the league, and bar none the best defenisve forward in hockey.

#4 Buffalo Sabres

On the ice…

They may be the most difficult team to place for me. They will at some point explode onto the scene and be a powerhouse… That team may still be a year away, but the process could be accelerated if Jack Eichel can rebound from a year away quickly. There is a little contract hanging out there which may keep Jack inspired….not that he is the kind of player who needs such things…

There simply isn’t time to get off to a slow start anymore in this division or this league for that matter. Ryan O’Reilly has truly blossomed into a star in this league and its hard to not pull for Kyle Okposo, one of the nicest humans in the game. The Sabres are in dire need of defense and Robin Lehner will have to have a remarkable season for the Sabres to return to the post season.

Potential Surprises….
* Evander Kane and Eichel have superb chemistry and no one is talking about a Kane trade anymore.
* Jason Pominville’s exciting return helps the Sabres get out of the gate quickly.
* Pouliot makes them instantly harder to play against.
* Matt Duchene becomes a Sabre.

In the rumor mill…

If the playoffs slip away Evander Kane will be moved this year since he is UFA this summer…The Sabres simply must get a D-man in return.

Best Case Scenario:
The Sabres and Eichel are on firs and finish in 3rd and back into the playoffs..10%
Worst Case:
The Sabres struggle to keep the puck out of the net and fall to 6th…20%
Most Likely:
The Sabres are battling several teams and land somewhere 4,5,6… 70%

Crazy Prediction…
Jack Eichel gets serious MVP consideration.

This is Ek's prediction for us..

But can someone explain what he's talking about in terms of Jack rebounding after a year away?

See, for years I got accused of cherry picking stats.

points are 1 stat. Save % is 1 stat. 5 on 5 goals are 1 stat.

If you look at everything ( points, 5 on 5 scoring, posesssion, ability to avoid walls at Tim Horton's) Bergeron is the better player still

Per I think Homie's rumor from a few weeks ago..

Heard again the Sabres think they have a chance of trading for JT. Not signing Kane because of this. Kane asking for a big contract, of course.

And what is Boston? One amazing line and a lot of meh. I firmly believe we will be much better than them
- jcragcrumple

Not sure if serious .. they have two rookies that could win rookie of the year and McAvoy is going to have a huge year just like Zach Werenski
