Good, back in the swing, work busy, home renovations almost complete.
Some beer notes:
Driftwood has added Arcus Pilsner to their year round lineup. It’s my fave between Phillips, Hoyne and Driftwood.
Category 12 is really knocking it out of the park on the Ale front. Their beers are excellent across the board. Really love the Critical Point PA - hoppy as hell for not being an IPA.
If you haven’t tried Deschutes beers from Oregon you are missing out. Expensive, but their Fresh Squeezed IPA is so good!
Spent 3 weeks in France earlier this year, touring wine regions, taking in culture, was amazing.
Absolutely sick from the news in the US. I hope you are keeping your distance. - 1970vintage
I'm spending a lot of time in the Middle East again, topping up that pension. #1 daughter is pregnant so gonna be a grandpa, I'll be trying some of those beers Thanks! |

So our 5th overall pick busts out of the ohl and can't even make it onto our ahl team.
What a horrible draft pick, that in 2 years he's already relegated to a European league, not even the khl would take him.
This makes 2 x 5th ov pick that Benning has made that arn't good enough to play in North America.
Worst drafter ever, even if 6th ov Jake manages to be the 13th forward in the NHL that's 1 out of 3 top 6 picks that plays a single game. What an idiot of a gm.

Talent Analysis
Pouliot is an exceptionally mobile offensive defenseman with elite vision and puck-distribution skills. He has a blistering shot from the point, can transition the puck with his head up, and can play a lot of minutes in all situations. Although not a tall player, he is bullish in the corners and difficult to knock off the puck. He possesses a strong, wide base and is an explosive skater who is able to quickly rush the puck up ice. Outside of getting stronger and faster, which is something that practically all prospects need to do, there is little in Pouliot’s game that could be considered a weakness. He will need to continue to improve his defensive play, but his game will always be predicated around creating offensive chances and taking some degree of risk. - CanuckDon
I think this is a wise trade. Pens were in a bind and knew they would get beat on the waiver wire. They sold low on a player with a fair bit of upside still which was going to be difficult/slow for Pouliot to reach with that roster ahead of him.
Pedan had something to offer but wasn't good enough overall as a Dman to justify adding his physical play to the roster. The Canucks need the offensive abilities more... will put up with the defensive warts to add the offence...it's a good deal...

Apparently the Canucks never got your fan mail telling them to be patient and keep drafting.

2nd best. We just traded the best for him along with something more valuable than a lottery pick.
