I just don't get why JB has to throw a pick in for a player that another team doesn't want anymore. - manvanfan

because they wouldn't have traded him for Pedan? simple isn't it? - CanuckDon
They could have had him for free, Canucks probably didnt want to add another contract. Essentially its Pouliot for a 4th as VAN was willing to lose Pedan for nothing anyways |

Yup, that's right, never ever should JB ever trade a pick because god forbid there is a 00.001% chance there is a Benn type player there.. |

Apparently the Canucks never got your fan mail telling them to be patient and keep drafting.
That or they don’t consider letters drawn in crayon credible... |

Because Pittsburgh would have been offered the same from other teams and Pittsburg believes ours is going to be a lower pick.
A 4th rounder (.75% chance of playing in the nhl) for a young cusp of playing in the Nhl player is a good pic, even if you factor in the 3rd ( 2.25% chance) paid for peden in the first place. I ignite mallet because... well he's mallet. |

Well then if you were the GM, we would all be calling you an idiot for not trying to improve the team.

If that was the case, Van probably should have picked up about 6 guys at least off the waiver wire. I mean that's where Pouloit was headed if someone didn't trade for him. |

That's actually not a bad trade, low risk higher reward, nothing wrong with that. Two years ago that pick would've been a 2nd.

oh right, I forgot about the 30 other teams that passed on him like 4 times, your hindsight is fantastic, you'd make a great scout. |

Hank missed second practice. He must be injured. Green said yesterday was because it was a hard practice, but with the amount the players on the Canucks say they are the fittest on the team, hard practice theory seems unlikely. |

Good, back in the swing, work busy, home renovations almost complete.
Some beer notes:
Driftwood has added Arcus Pilsner to their year round lineup. It’s my fave between Phillips, Hoyne and Driftwood.
Category 12 is really knocking it out of the park on the Ale front. Their beers are excellent across the board. Really love the Critical Point PA - hoppy as hell for not being an IPA.
If you haven’t tried Deschutes beers from Oregon you are missing out. Expensive, but their Fresh Squeezed IPA is so good!
Spent 3 weeks in France earlier this year, touring wine regions, taking in culture, was amazing.
Absolutely sick from the news in the US. I hope you are keeping your distance.

Teams send those players down with the hope they clear and eventually prosper enough to come back and help the club.
These two particular individuals were not fitting into their respective teams hopes, dreams, requirements, whatever the hell you want to call it. So a trade was made and it required Benning to include a 4th.
There are so many documented cases of players that get new starts with different teams and start to flourish...Gradlund, Beartschi are two examples of trades made by Benning that have benefited the club. |

I bet the Canucks and Pens has a deal in place with the caveat that Pedan clears waivers |
