The return of clutch grab plus a coupe rule changes like the auto icing rule took some tools out of the twins toolbox and cost them each points.

Crazy times. Looking forward to another transition season. Hopefully Bo's line can produce.

No announcements other then Megna & Chaput on waivers. But see Cap friendly updates.

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks

Seems they put Biega on off roster list too and moved BB & JV up. Carol doesn't think Pedan will stay because TG knows his inconsistency. Capfriendly has kept him on the off roster list.

I wonder if they just don't put Gaunce on LTIR and keep things as they are on cap friendly. That could ensure a roster spot for him if he's ready before any injuries strike.

Like that source. Here is direct link for Canucks:

https://www.rosterresourc...om/nhl-vancouver-canucks/

12 🇨🇦 on roster...nice eh...

Funny how they listed Biega as camp participant with White when he was on Canuck roster all of last season. DD as extra is their take which is what I have been saying before camp.

So they think DA is getting a contract taking away Guance roster assurance. Hope that OJ contract slide works out and he gets to go to "Finishing School".

Conversations at my house are never dull . We are watching shark tank and they have on Richard Branson. I told my wife he bought an island where he lives. She said that is impossible you can't buy an island . Where would you buy an island ?

I told her you buy them at Islands R Us . She said Oh I did not know that, she was happy with the answer.

7th in the Pacific

ANALYSIS: Part of me wanted to rank the Canucks a spot or two higher. Truth be told, I’ve liked their off-season moves to date and I don’t think their roster, as a whole, is as bad as most believe. Goaltending is the big question mark here too, with Jacob Markstrom anointed Vancouver’s new No. 1 and Anders Nilsson brought in to push him. Neither have been a starter before, so that position has to be considered a weakness compared to the competition. I also liked the promotion of Travis Green as coach and I could see him getting more out of this group, especially the forwards. The defence is decent too, with the Canucks appearing fairly deep up front and on the back end. Call me crazy, but the more I look at their projected lineup, the more I think Vancouver is underrated right now, possibly even a playoff sleeper. However, I’m not willing to go that bold with my prediction — not with so much uncertainty in the crease. Instead, I’ll go with the consensus and predict another top-10 pick for the Canucks.

Vegas...Terror

What a massacre. Deadliest mass shooting in US history... just f'up...such horror for all involved.

Hope this isn't used for cheap politics. But on the civil side will they ever wake up to merits of gun control... like military weaponry...it's just senseless.

Good post, I’m not so sure about a playoff sleeper position, but I do think that a new coach, new systems, a few new faces with better talent than last years group, could make some games more entertaining.

Well, they were wrong on about half the teams last season. Pick and choose which ones they will be wrong about this year.

Yes that's the hope and so far early observations from what's happened pre-season. Though the write up he pasted in is the same copy and paste narrative EK had on Canucks. Season predictions can be more flighty then draft ones especially so far out. But hey it's always a good bet to have the Canucks down.

TG seems to want to have 1 shut down line. Sutter going to be playing against the other teams top line. Problem with this roster though is who are you going to play with him that won't take away from their offence.

Gagner last season had one of his best seasons ever because he was played max PP time and against the other teams 4th line.

Best responsible defenders would be dorsett and sutter. Someone who isn't as bad on the D-side and could help out on offence is Burmy but as seen in wpg, in that role he is less effective then giving more Ozone opportunities.

So in terms of "match up" line up so far
Dorsett Sutter Granny -----shutdown line
Loui Bo Boeser--- could match up against a 2nd line and win a lot of nights
Daniel Henrik Vanek ----easier competition might see more points for not against
Sven Gagner JV ----- 4th line feast for scoring.

Anyone notice this post is almost like a Nuck4u type post.

Burmy as the 13th forward.

I feel bad that Granny doesn't get more of a scoring role, I think he is a player that creates scoring on his own.

This roster just has too many fill in jack of all trades players and almost not enough role players. Will find out in the coming year or two what type of players Sven and Granny, JV will actually become.

As for ice time. Probably 12 a night for the 4th line and sorted out 15 plus PP and PK time for the other lines.

Don't get me started on the defence. We should just make some trades to sort things out for a while.

I am not sure I really love this signing. Obviously CGY isn't convinced Jankowski or Foo are NHL ready. I think the flames need to get a bit faster, and don't really know how Jagr helps out. He will good for 10-15 goals though

On Jaromir Jagr, Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues …

Pierre LeBrun: Heard that Jaromir Jagr and the Calgary Flames were talking last night. It’s not certain that a deal gets done, but it is a possibility.

John Shannon: Jagr and Flames contract talks are getting serious. Should know by . The Flames spoke with Michael Frolik (Czech) about Jagr.

John Shannon: IF Jagr signs with the Flames it will be for third line minutes. They think that his size would help them.

John Shannon: The Flames being interested in Jagr is likely an indication that they feel their young prospects aren’t ready yet.

Jeremy Rutherford: (6:53 pm yesterday) Believe that the St. Louis Blues are still interested in Jagr. Jagr would have to be okay with taking less than $2 million, which he might not be.

Jeremy Rutherford: Jagr would also have to be okay with playing third line minutes and on the second power play.

KERBY RYCHEL on waivers. Scraps for Utica

I'm still waiting on Scott Laughton and Jacob De La Rose to see if they make it on waivers. 4th line scraps.

Only player higher then Yamamoto in shooting percentage during the preseason. Jayson Megna. 100% shooting percerntage. Yam is at 62.5%. Should probably be back in junior but well it's the oilers. 9 games and he's back in junior.

I watched DET and TOR in their pre-season game on the weekend. I try and watch Joe Hicketts play as much as possible as I followed him in Victoria for years. Leivo and Rychel stood out big time for the leafs.

David Booth gets a contract from the Red Wings. Two way deal 700,000 in the nhl. Second player to sign after a PTO this year.

Toronto sent 15 players to the Marlies.

Robert Hagg and Nolan Patrick have made the Flyers out of camp. Hagg over Sanheim and Morin. Interesting.

Morin could be the tryamkin we wanted.

While many on Twitter are criticizing the Oilers for demoting Jesse Puljujarvi to Bakersfield as the team would rather him get first-line minutes in the AHL as opposed to third-line minutes with the team, David Staples of the Edmonton Journal agrees with the move.

Seems as if Leivo made the team. They are going to carry 14 forwards and 7 D according to Capfriendly. I hope the TML are plagued with injuries this season.

I find it hard to watch Detroit anymore, they were so good at breakouts and puck retrieval and now they just aren't.
