I guess he is fine as a 7th/8th D man, if we are going to go 13 forwards, and 8 D. - Codes1087
Biega also plays wing... so he's both the 14th forward and the 8th d |

Maybe I phrased it wrong, but I dont see why having a 29 year old journeyman filling up your pressbox slot while they have everyone younger either on the ice at the NHL or AHL levels is a bad thing? - WhiteLie
Because on this team that 29 year old tends to get a decent number of games in a year. 51 and 36 the last two seasons. Even if he is an 8th D.
29 years old and 94 nhl games. If anything get someone who is younger and could use games, possibly get better or get someone the same age but with a hell of a lot more experience. |

Nope it annoys me. He's an AHL player who takes up a spot over someone who could use NHL experience or for someone who has NHL experience and won't suck as bad. |

I agree with this. Waiver wire has better options then Biega. Even as an 8th dman hes played to much games |

Green obviously trusts Biega, he made him captain in Utica. If he wants him as the No 8 then so be it. I don't like Biega but I don't think it's a big deal. |

He won't play unless two regulars get injured. Want Pedan sitting in the press box for the first 25 games? i don't. |

That's why I had Dallas and the Peg at the top of the class for just being on the outside. Not sure who in the Central you not out to get them in. St.Louis? Chicago? Nashville and the Mild are pretty decent teams and I don't see them missing at all... |

I think Benning and Green understand and have come to terms with the fact that this year isn't going to be the year they win a championship. Pedan will get top 4 minutes in the AHL, and is still very much considered a prospect, where Biega will play the pressbox and is too old to eat up minutes (like Whitey said).

As mentioned before Biega is the ideal 7-8 dman press box guy. |

washington lost a few decent players and aren't as good as last season. I think they'll have an off year.
kings still the same. jets/ dallas just miss cuz their div is too tough and won't beat out the top four in pacific who'll get points against the pacific bottom feeders.
buffalo/ panthers work in progress. improving. but top of their div too tough.
broons on the way down. chara long in the toof.
Jersey and philly improve but not enough with the draft from last season. Toronto overachieved.
detroit still bad, avalanche is a wreck as long Sakic there.
who's left? Vegas - team will have some good knights but not enough to move up. Yotes - doan gone, lose some direction. but improving and will have some spark. not enough though.
Nux - will face a lot of second string goalchies and will get less than 100% effort from the opposition. Plus improved roster with legit calder candidate and better D and competitive goaltending. |

I think in years past it was the lack of trust Willie had with the guys being called up. Biega is that roster spot for when your call ups cant make it to the game on time.
When a call up is needed, he gets in ahead of Biega is how I think it should go, but having someone like that just sit hoping for 2 injuries while not playing is not my ideal development strategy |

I don't think Pedan is going to develop anymore playing in the AHL. You would hope he would but sometimes the competition just needs to get better for the player to get better. No i'm not saying Pedan will become a star. I'm just saying he's stalled in the AHL. |

I think we need to pick up a young prospect on the wire and sit him until he's ruined! The Toronto treatment!

Agreed, sometimes its needed to help take a step forward but IMO playing AHL games is better than morning skates, whether its Pedan, McEneny, Holm, or whomever else |

I can't believe he's still playing in the NHL. He's 32. 12 seasons in the NHL. There's a guy who's made a career being a fringe NHL player. |
