Thanks for the stubhub advice. Can't beat $14 for 100 level primes (+ fees)!
- LandlordTom

I was bored so i checked it out..

25$ for row 5 in the 100 level

I'm almost tempted to drive my ass out to buffalo for that

I'm not gonna lie, it was refreshing to see them be able to score 2 goals late in the game with the goalie pulled.

Did the wheels fall off a bit? Sure. But they were playing against most of Pittsburghs big guns. We had about half of what our opening night defense will look like out there last night.

It's preseason. Let's not panic folks
. I thought they did a lot of things well. Just have to continue to clean it up a bit.

- HonkFortheGoose

THIS!!!! Lol.

You guys going overboard when we had half our team and they had their entire starting lineup.

I don't think Pitt had their entire starting lineup, but we were missing probably our top 3 defenders. And we played against the Stanley Cup champs.

I'm not gonna stress about it. It's preseason. Doesn't mean anything.

I've never had an issue buying tickets off stub hub. I've done it for multiple events, some of which have been in other cities.

My beef with stub hub these days is that the fees have gotten out of control. It used to be fairly reasonable. Now it's insane.

- HonkFortheGoose

ticket master blows

4 tickets, $49.99 ea

$50 in fees

25% surcharge

Yes, but "I would take him on my team any team any day" and the whether or not he should have his number retired are two completely different arguments. Number retirements should be reserved for great players. Danny Gare was a good player, not a great one.

Personally, the only numbers that should be up there are the French Connection and Hasek. I can live with LaFontaine, but a good chunk of his stats were while playing with somebody else. The same goes for Tim Horton.

- buffalofan19

Opinions vary, to be sure.
Of All Time Sabres, Gare makes that team, with a top 10 pick, likely a little higher than 10...and we are talking about Sabres jersey retires, not the fabled Habs.
The intangibles he brought separate him out from others...and scoring 50 on a checking line is an accomplishment.
He was a fan, coach, and owner favorite.
Analytics falls short in that evaluation of why.

They all stink

I bought tickets for the prospect challenge. $10 a ticket. Bought 3 tickets. Cost me more in fees than it did for 1 ticket.

This is my question (Doesn't have to do with Gare, as much as it does intangibles in general)

If the intangibles are so important, then why don't they lead to goals, assists, wins etc?

There is no way to measure how important certain things are

Why does it need to be measured?

Guys that don't necessarily end up on the score sheet regularly are just as important to a team. Not everything that means something has to have a number of some sort assigned to it.

either they have the "it" factor or they don't

a player like varada was a fringe 4th liner at best but he brought "it" every night which bumped him up a few lines and made him a fan favorite

we see glimpses of it here and there from a few current sabres but for the most part it's not seen every night like it was with varada, mike foligno, barnes, etc etc

Bogosian with 8 shots. There's the housley effect, but they didnt win which is the lack of depth effect. Still very encouraging to see. Hope it stays this way.

From my perspective it was about sustained focus. A few breakdowns - not by our top guys, by the way - allowed the Pens to pull away. I liked that we came back. I would prefer that we not have to.

PS - I get that the dotted lines are goals. What are the shaded areas?

For all the crap he gets, Kane has been the most consistent Sabre since he got here. His game is exactly the same every night

Agreed, but this is the give and take part of opening things up which for now i think is fine. I like that the foot stayed on the pedal for most of this. Id rather not play from behind either but occasionally you're gunna face great teams that just click better. CJ being not so great didnt help either but thats its own separate problem.

Edit: Just saw your edit, IIRC it supposed to reflect penalty time/non 5v5 play
