I just want this to be over. I get that it's selfish because these people do have a point. But I just can't take anymore of this talk of disrespecting the troops. I'm not a soldier, and I never have been, so props to them, but this strawman soldier being upset is so infuriating.

On one side: you hate America and the troops

Otherside: you hate black people

Just kneel before the anthem, then get up during, or l, I don't know. But seriously, is this just gonna be a thing forever?

- jcragcrumple

I saw someone post on FB the other day that their dead grandfather that was a soldier would be really upset about people kneeling during the anthem.

Now, this person may very well be right. But to assume that he would be is a bit crazy IMO. He's not here to give his opinion, so let's leave him out of it.

It has to be until there is a change.

I support troops, to a certain extent, but I don't support the military as an institution, so what do I do? Stand and honor the troops but also honor an institution I am almost completely against, in that it needs a serious reform?

Or disrespect the troops but also show that I don't support the institution that doesn't reward them for their service?

Do you see that problem?

Now add institutional racism to the equation. Yeah, it exists and it needs to be addressed.

Hunter Shinkaruk on waivers. Didn't see that coming when he was a prospect.

Its the real life equivalent of reverend lovejoy's wife on the simpsons saying "won't somebody think of the children?!?"

Like was eloquently posted earlier, everyone needs to take a step to the middle and try to at least acknowledge the other viewpoint. Especially our president, who by definition is supposed to be president for all people

Did they say what the injury is? I know they're usually pretty vague.

Upper body, lower body?

(guess that covers it all )

- HonkFortheGoose

Upper body, nothing more specific than that, at least that I've found.

I think one of the biggest issues we have today is that it's extremely difficult to find reports that aren't biased in some way.

I'd like to be well informed, but at the same time, the majority of what's available to us these days all have some sort of agenda behind it. While they use facts, they pick and choose which ones they want to use instead of giving the full picture. (Gee, where have I heard that one before?)

I guess I'm just frustrated at the fact that I can't really get the information in a way that doesn't have some sort of a spin on it.

If someone has a place to get this info without the bias on it, I'm all ears.

*BOOM*

Because when you introduce PROFIT to an institution, it becomes corrupt. There are no honest doctors anymore just like there are no honest journalists.

Exceptions don't make a rule. There's nice cops, too, but as an institution, Police/Authority is corrupt and needs a sweeping change.

It becomes extremely frustrating to try to be a well informed citizen when there's no real way to do that anymore.

I don't want to be told what to think. I want to make up my mind on my own.

Trust me, I lean more toward your opinion, but what's the endgame here? This protest isn't going to solve societal ills, but it will further seperate the two sides. I'd just like to see the players establish a PA foundation in conjunction with ownership so when they get on the filed they can stand for the anthem because they know they're working to make that flag mean something better to them

Let's not forget this is all a distraction, too.

We are this close to a very serious nuclear war.

That is the more urgent issue.

I just want to say, that while this topic isn't something I want to discuss, I think it's great that all of us have been able to have a CIVIL conversation about it.

Kudos to all of you who have taken part.

So do that. It's all we can do. But listen to all sides and let their idiocy or brilliance determine how you perceive them, and in turn, let it evolve your own ideas.

It's certainly not easy these days.

I think talking about it will always advance the issue in a positive way.

Maybe in person, but the internet allows people to semi anonymously call each other libtard and bootlicker and then everyone digs in and gets more angry.

Those are trolls and troll gonna troll.

Just like the whole triggered and cuck thing, anyone who says any of these terms is immediately discredited and ignored or alternatively, completely 'internet' female dog-slapped.

There are a lot of us just moving past those comments and continuing the discourse productively.

Miller was a head-case, whiny child who always deflected responsibility for losses, threw his team mates under the bus constantly and had exactly ONE elite season as a starting goaltender in this league. He won exactly NOTHING and did exactly NOTHING for this team, ultimately.

Martin Biron's career stats are almost identical and that's a guy who played on a LOSING team.

Ryan Miller is the most overrated Sabre of all-time and it's not even close. If his number ends up in the rafters, I'm not a Sabres fan anymore because it confirms that our franchise is a (frank)ing joke.

Right but that's not the point. Don't try to justify your beliefs, but understand, your belief here is an old-mentality and you have to hear out the other side and at least consider where they're coming from.

While ignorant to a fault, Xennials and Millennials alike are well-informed on the History of this country.

To a lot of us, the flag represents stolen land, a genocide, concentration camps ("reservations"), racism, oppression and corruption. The "National Anthem" is a celebration of the institution behind these heinous acts.

Our constitution is failing, our "Democracy" is a farce and I have every right, by the very first constitutional amendment, to criticize, protest and speak out against this by any means possible. And a LOVE for the country is the reason behind most of it, a love for the ideals and premise behind it.

The National Anthem is in fact, the best avenue to do that very protest, because all eyes are on you. It hits people hardest, it forces them to join something they've been ignoring for far too long. There is a reason people are protesting the National Anthem and one of the reasons is that its because no other protest gets acknowledged.

What does the "National Anthem" truly represent?
