You go?

Was it just the D being active or did they seem to be playing faster all around?

- RhinoFan

Yeah I was in the 100s. Definitely faster, especially on the transition. I mean on McCabes goal, Fedun took off from his own blue line with McCabe riding shotgun. If Bylsma saw 2 d men leading a rush, they probably wouldn't have played another shift.

Risto was behind the net in the ozone twice and in front once. McCabe was in front of the net.

The break out in the first was sloppy but you can tell the pace is way different. Also, a lot more of those high 10 yard passes from the D zone where the forwards skate under them and take off. That erod line especially deployed that well

I would love to see the corsi numbers on that top line, they were in the o zone down low all night

Hopefully Baptiste looks good. I'm losing faith in Bailey.

Erod drew 2 penalties and had that nice helper.

Tough to get a good read on Pouliot offensively, but he's big and fast. Definitely faster than foligno

- jcragcrumple

I've also lost faith in Bailey he has done nothing to get me excited

Hopefully Baptiste can be that late round Hidden Gem

I don't recall the team using that play at all under DD but watching playoff hockey I saw every team doing it at least occasionally.

Good to hear. I like Housley as a person/player, but doesn't mean he can catch. Promising at least to see a decent system being implemented.

If the Sabres defense continues to push the play like that we will have a lot more secondary scoring, something that Buffalo desperately needed more of last year. I am liking Buffalo's chances of making the playoffs more.

How did Reinhart look at center?

Haha. Paid for the tickets, otherwise you're right. The $18 could have went towards more brown liquor.

Tough to say, because I didn't like Moses's game at all, and Pouliot isn't really a finisher. The two things I noticed is that 1.) I think people make too much out of his speed. He's not fast, but he's not slow either. 2.) I know its cliche at this point, but he is a smart player. He made a kick pass to Pouliot in the offensive zone that Pouliot wasn't expecting.

Kane 2.0?

we need people that can finish or else Jack will never pass the puck again

Random thing: they called delay of game on Carolina. When a player got tossed from the faceoff circle, the next guy came in, screwed it up, and they were assessed a penalty. It's the first time I've ever seen that called. My sister said she read on Twitter that it happened in other games as well. So get ready for that call this year, I guess

No, I just mean his role was really to bang and get the puck to reinhart. Pouliot didn't have any point blank chances, and a couple times Moses would lose the puck in his skates and it would get broken up. I think Pouliot could work there, but they need a shooter on that line

They called slashing really tight too. If they stick with it for a couple months players will get it and stop doing it.

They're focusing on this because of some of the injuries that resulted from it last year. It was one of the first things that was mentioned when Parros was hired to head up the Dept of Player Safety.

He specifically mentioned the Crosby/Methot incident and the Gaudreau injury last season.

Agreed. It'll be interesting to see if it lasts or if the players finally start to realize they can't get away with it anymore.

My guess is for at least the start of the year we see an uptick in the amount of penalties called in a game.

It's not a new rule

They just never call it in the regular season.

They might have tightened up because usually when the center gets tossed the linesmen just gets the puck down as quick as possible when the new center comes in because the last thing they want is to call a penalty for that.

Idk I love pominville but I think he's just going to get 12 goals he's going to be a good vet that's for sure but I just don't think he's going to produce as people think he will
