Today's game will be broadcast on 88.7 FM and a video stream on the #Isles website. Not on MSG. Chris King and Greg Picker have you covered.

Bad job by Dolan. He wants to partner on Belmont so show all the pre-season games.

I saw that. Those upper levels do look very steep.

This must be why JT hasn't signed.

You think if Barzal takes the 2C spot right away, the Isles trade Josh Bailey while his value, for the time being, is up there? Just wondering.
- bgainesDM

No I don't. I don't think Bailey is fetching much of a return

These players still crying about the Olympics? Many of these players played at the Olympics already. They should focus on their NHL teams.

The Olympics have become something of a boondoggle anyway. They make tons of money for the organizers, some of it under the table. But they're mostly a losing proposition for the venues with cities going heavily in debt to build the facilities which may or may not be used much once the games are over. The taxpayers are then left footing the bill.

With all due respect to guys like Ovie and JT, they need to focus on bringing real playoff success to their teams and not the Olympics. The Olympics have not gotten the NHL a ton of new fans or greater ratings.

I saw the stats and 2 periods online but no goals. Wonder if the sellout is a sign that if a rink is in Belmont the people will go. Anyhow nice that hockey is back and we have stuff to talk about

Looked like the team enjoyed the return to the Coli. Anders Lee firing up the crowd as they were leaving the ice is probably the most emotion I've seen from him!

I never liked the NHL players in the Olympics. They are getting paid a lot of money to play professionally at the highest level in the world. As far as I'm concerned they forfeited the chance to play in the Olympics.

I agree Jimmy and not to pick on JT, but he has the Isles season, Belmont, and his contract coming up. The Olympics should be the last thing on his mind. He should have done a Jim Mora playoff thing except with the Olympics. The Caps owner and fans should really be pissed with Ovie for even mentioning the Olympics.

Agreed, but from JT's point of view, it's a nice change for him to be able to play on a good team.

I guess John. I forgot to mention the Isles did not make the playoffs so that's another reason for JT to not even mention the Olympics. I know all the Isles problems are not JT's fault, but to me he had many reasons to shoot down any talk of playing at the Olympics.

I'd love to see some highlights but apparently that's not allowed in preseason. Hell I watched two periods at Applebees on a cell phone went home (7miles) and it was blacked out

If you're on Twitter and are following the Islanders they've posted replays of all three goals in the last 15 minutes or so.

Anyone still think Tavares signing isn't based on the arena?
“Today is about the fans and today is about a guy like John Tavares telling me to go out to the tailgates. He told me that at the captains’ golf outing last week, about how much he enjoys seeing this environment. You can see the twinkle in his eye getting to play this game today.”

I think the arena is the biggest thing. The team can use more talent, but this is not the old Isles teams that had expansion level talent. This team has good talent to work with. It's on the players to prove it now that Cappy is gone and Weight has a new staff.
