Well I agree and seems like the players are ready for a
"He's brought in a lot of people that he trusts and Doug's done his homework," Thomas Hickey said. "It's exciting, all the people that are here are going to be in line with his philosophy and the way that he wants to play and coach. It's very professional, not that it wasn't before, but it's a new look for us and guys are excited to get going

The bottom line here is Weight along with his staff are former NHLers are the current players most likely respect them for that. Capuano was NEVER a legit professional hockey player. How could high end prospects coming up respect that?

There are many great coaches that were never great players. His success as a coach has nothing to do with his playing ability. Torts, Cooper, Boudreau, Trots, Julien, I can go on and on. You don't have to be a NHL star to be a great coach

Yeah they loved him for the brief time he was coach. It was all rainbows and butterflies. Let's wait until this teams first swoon whether it be to start the season or in December. A little adversity will show us what kind of coach Weight is. At this point he's unproven.

I just hope he can keep them from going through the usual 10+ game losing streak.

That's exactly what im saying. Let's see if that happens number one or if they never dig themselves out of it. Or if he right's the ship after a few games then I'll decide what kind of coach Weight is. He can "work" and "study" all off-season all he wants it means nothing until there are good results. Most Islander fans forget this is a results oriented business judging by the fans that are stupid enough to think Snow is a good GM.

Dude, have you been day drinking? I don't know any Islander fan that thinks Snow is a good GM.

This is going to be a wait and see season for a lot of reasons. My biggest questions going in are Weight and Ho-Sang. I know you disagree, but I still say they get in as WC1 or WC2 (then lose in the the first round 4-2). Crappy was an anchor around the team's neck. Getting rid of him was addition by subtraction.

Blah blah blah. Let me see a winning record and some semblance of success after rebuilding for 11 years and I'll have some faith in Weight. Until that happens he's just another maybe on a team full of 'em

I'll bet you're asked to speak at a lot of people's funerals Captain happy
I will say this weight said the young guys need a good look and to see good minutes and that alone is something cappy never did. That alone gives me some hope not like putting a guy on 4th line or spending 3 games in press box to learn system

Lee - Tavares - Eberle
Ladd - Barzel - Ho-Sang
Nelsen - Beauvillier - Bailey
Chimera - Cizikas - Clutterbuck

I kinda like this line up. However theres lots of question marks.
1) Barzel and Beauviller as 2nd and 3rd line centers can make or break this team.
2) zero grit from the 3rd line, guess they will use the speed
3) can Ladd get a better start this year, and will the 2nd line produce much needed secondary scoring.

Youre really looking for a story here, but thats not where i was going. My point, was simply that Capuano and his staff were clearly out of their league while in the NHL. The teams success or lack there of speaks for itself. After years of inconsistencies and overall not winning, a coach who doesnt have the resume, to me plays a factor. When you're winning everything is great......but who's gonna buy into a system that hasnt worked, where the guy preaching it hasnt himself actually succeeded with it.
