I have no patience for Nelson at all.
- ses111

What did Nelson do in a pre season game that he's now the new Bailey? I'm ok with him putting up 45-50 pts on the third line. He was never supposed to be a top line guy. Barzal will have the 2c so Nelson will be playing 3rd line minutes. He'll be just fine.

Way to play D there, Bail...I mean Nelson. Good lord, does he know he can actual propel himself on those blades he's standing on?

Uh huh. Sure you did. Was this right after the space ship dropped off? Or right after you had coffee with Big Foot?

Yeah that was almost as bad as a JT turnover in OT. Almost but not quite.

If Barzal is our 2C in November I'll wear a bra for the month. Doubtful at best. I agree about nelson.

It was one play in OT of a pre-season game. I get that, but man, show some pride. At least act like you want to be out there. I'm sure he'll be fine. He'll put up his usual 40-45 points. But that's the point. I think a lot of us think he's got potential to do more. That he has the talent to do more. Personally, I think he could hang 60 if he played harder, put in more effort. He's got size, skill and hands. I hope the coaching staff can pull more out of him and others on this team.

You mean you're not wearing one now?
Still think Nelson will be 2c. Barzal 3c if not in Bridge.

Again I think because the isles essentially sh!t the bed with picks Nino, Strome, and Reinhardt you had Nelson now playing top 6 minutes. That was never his purpose....which is a theme on the isles. A lot of patch work.
With Barzal having the skill that he does he will be the 2C. Sure there will be growing pains but his skill will now allow Nelson to be what he was supposed to be.
Last nights game was horrific. There was literally no flow because of all the special teams. I don't think anyone on either team had a good game.
I will say I love watching Ho Sang skate with the puck.

I agree that patchwork is a constant with this team. I do think though, that Nelson has the talent and skill to be a 2c. It just needs to be brought out of him. Not sure how or with what method, I just think it's there. We all know he doesn't play with heart. However, there are quite a few guys on this team that don't. We'll see how it plays out.

It's what Nelson does during the season. He gets off to a good start and disappears for long stretches. The guy has no drive at all and is lazy.

These are the thing that drive fans crazy about Nelson and Bailey. It's not because they are not 70 or 80 point players. They do not do the little things needed to win a game.

I do not remember talk about Nelson being a 3rd line player when he was drafted? He has the skills to be a good top 6 player. Let's not pretend Nelson was a 4th or 5th round pick.

Does preventing a cross ice pass to an open winger by taking away that passing lane show up on the score sheet? No, but it might prevent a goal and could lead to a turnover. This whole team needs to learn to play defense. They need some heart and drive.

Exactly hockeyman! It's not a lack of talent with this team. It's been a lack of coaching, heart, and drive. Offense will not be this teams undoing. It will be a lack of defensive play and effort.

Get him a training bra so after the month is up he can at least hang on to it for a few years until his wife needs one.

That's been my complaint about him all along. He's a big kid. Get down low, create some screens, create some tip-in or rebound chances and/or make the D work. He's just not that kind of player. I think he just wants to play like he's 5'-9" and around the circles.
