Can you give an example of an NHL player who returned in that time period from meniscal repair surgery?
Mason in 2008, Gudas in 2015 and Stamkos in 2016 all missed four months or more. - Feanor
Id have to go and look but as JMac said above Taylor Hall..
Usually if its just a meniscus tear they will clean it up and its a fairly quick turnaround. Honestly sometimes the hold up on returning is actually making sure the skin is healed from where they made the cuts for the scope.
Its usually when there is some sort of articular cartilage damage that they do other things and the recovery is longer. Things like micro fracture surgery or ACI (cartilage implant) are reasons for longer term recovery...
I work in sports medicine btw.. |

I think his point is that the injury was a bad one and he won't be back soon. - Scoob
We already knew that, though.
I was trying to find out what else is "going on". |

my guess is cartilage damage.
Menisectomy is just one way to treat a meniscus tear. Debridement is another. Usually they are both relatively quick healing times depending on severity.

Mensicus repairs have a long recovery time if the area that was torn has poor blood flow.
Parise is another guy who missed five months after a meniscus repair. |

NONE SHALL PASS PROVOROV
* With almost machine-like precision, Ivan Provorov thwarted attackers in drills off the rush. They couldn't go wide on him, nor could they muscle past him to move inside the dots. There's a good reason why he won the Barry Ashbee Trophy last season and led the defense in ice time. The scariest part with Provorov is that he's still only scratched the surface of his talents. - jmatchett383

Nice to see that the Phillies ran Mark Leiter Fluid out on the mound tonight, with predictable results.
