I'd like to see Mayfield start the season with Seidenberg on the 3rd pair and Hickey be the extra dman.

As punishment, you will be tied up and forced to listen Spariarti explain why Josh Bailey is actually a good player for 8hrs/day for 5 days.

Ok now that is just cruel and sever torture. They should use that on terrorists to make them talk

With all due respect and not being a Dack in all honesty did Duchene report to camp?

That pairing would get torched nightly. There are four painfully slow guys on the Islanders and they are two of them.

Mayfield did exceed expectations a little last year, but I still don't consider him a viable option at any point in the near future. I don't love Pelech either, for the record.

Third pair will not have great options. Toews will probably start in Bridge. Hopefully we have a coaching staff now that can manage minutes correctly.

Highly doubtful, unless you're prepared to move Pulock+ for Barrie

Joe Sakic is so demented and oblivious to the world that I wouldn't even waste my breath if I were Snow.

I think the team you see is the team you get, unless Snow pulls a second line center out of his ass in the next few weeks.

Two groups. (edit: sorry, someone else obviously pointed that out already)

#Isles group two D pairs:
Toews-Boychuk
de Haan-Pelech
Wotherspoon-Mayfield
Helgeson-Quenneville

Gibson, Gudlevskis and McAdam in goal.

I wouldn't read too far into it, but I do find it curiously interesting that Nelson is playing wing with his group and Barzal is centering Ladd and Bailey with his.

Well, someone will have to move if they are all on the team in the next few years.

I thought Nelson would center Ladd and Bailey. But like you said - no big deal. Scramble them up and see what works.

It kind of makes sense. It plays to Nelson's strong suit which is his wrist shot which he can get off from any forward position. As a playmaker or on the defensive side, he's not great.

Might as well see what Barzal can bring as a 2C.....

And if/when that happens, Josh Bailey will be traded.

Well he's a free agent after this season, so they might just let him walk like Okposo.

My gut tells me that they just want to see Barzal playing with top-6 guys and see how he does and Nelson is probably playing wing just so they can see how Beau looks at center. But it's the Islanders so for all I know they could have Barzal pegged for a 2nd line center role unless he has a terrible camp.

I mean yeah they should just let him walk. Too much talent coming down the pipeline and giving Bailey a raise, when they've already painted themselves somewhat into a corner with all the other dopey contracts they gave out, just would be terrible asset management.

Well, we got a first and 2 2nds for a dman who had a bunch of injuries and a -21 last year. Don't be surprised if we can replicate that to some degree with him. Just saying.
