Who fails the physical?

Bets?

I'll guess Bogo is already hurt.

The one guy I am most curious about is CJ Smith.

He didn't get a good look here last season, but after watching the Prospect Challenge he can fly.

He will most likely start in Rochester but he is someone that can be that mid season call up if he finds his scoring touch.

And that forward they signed from Nashville who scored 30 goals in the KHL. That's an intriguing player. The big question is who players center in roch

Thoughts on Gionta?

He is skating with everyone at the Harbor Center in full Sabres gear.

Thinks he gets a PTO somewhere?

I am 100% ok with Gionta as a 4th liner on a reasonable contract...so long as he doesn't retain the "C"

I would highly doubt Botterill would ever resign him. I would almost go out on a limb and say, when hell freezes over, he'd be back here.

I wouldn't say he's necessarily right for the Sabres roster, but he can still play the game. Somebody should give him a contract.

Why do you say that?

I mean i'm not gonna cry if Gio doesn't resign, but he showed last year he can still be productive...he's just the kind of veteran presence that a young team could use when challenging for a playoff spot.

I 100% agree with this.

We don't have a spot for him. If he was a LW, maybe it would be worth a shot, but we're already thin at LW and crowded at RW.

At this point we have to let that responsibility be handled by other guys to whom we made longer terms commitments - Okposo, Molson, Scandella etc.

And trust that the true leaders of the team - Jack, ROR, Risto - will learn on the job pretty quickly.

#1 reason is culture change.

He was the Captain of the team of how many losing seasons?

Time to start fresh.

I personally have nothing against Gionta, I just see Botterill going in a different direction.

Plus fans would probably rather see nick Baptiste than gionta. And gio wouldn't be 3rd line anymore, he'd be fourth so his points would dip considerably. I think the leadership thing is overrated too
