Keep reading about doughty likely to leave la via trade or Ufa. What would it take for the Flyers to get him. I think now would be the time. Myers or sanhiem, Morin, first rounder (either their own or one from St Louis) this enough or too much?

no as in too much or not enough or no to doughty. I would pay a steep price for him. Imagine

Doughty Provorov
Ghost Sanhiem/Myers
Gudas Morin/Hagg

It's not going to happen, LA isn't moving him any time soon.

That steep price likely includes 1 or 2 of the d guys listed.

You mean we're not going to trade an inordinate number of assets for the shiniest, priciest toy in the toybox? Seriously? Thats a philosophy that has served us oh so well in the past!

They'd be absolute fools to trade him.

Exactly, plus with 2 years still on his deal, unless someone is going to massively overpay, LA isn't doing anything right now.

A top Dman like Doughty is going to cost a fortune. Look what the Flyers had to give up for Pronger who was older and much closer to free agency. The cost for Doughty, a perennial Norris candidate, would likely start with Provorov. It ain't happening.

Bob Clarke would have totally done a deal like that in his day.

I like Hexy's philosophy of building from within, so I'm inclined to go ahead and not do this deal.

And he's only 27. He's still gonna be good for awhile. You'd have to pay through the nose to get a guy like that. No thanks.

There is no way Hextall is even thinking about doing a deal like this.

The Flyers, to get a 34-year old Pronger (granted, a better player year-for-year than Doughty) with 1 year left cost them 2 1sts and their most recent 1st rounder, Sbisa.

If you want Doughty, with 2 years left, at 27, I see the asking price as:

2 1sts
2 2nds
Provorov
Konecny

Probably something like that. Like I said, there is no way that Hextall is making this kind of deal, not gonna happen.

i mentioned earlier either Sanhiem or Myers, plus morin, and a first. Pop in both 1st rounders this year and I don't think it is far off. The reason I bring it up Doughty has been quoted at saying he wants to play for cups meaning he doesn't think LA is in a good position. Philly has the prospects to make a deal and still have a good team with him I think they would be a contender like when they picked up Pronger. These teams always seem to get together on trades

Anybody see these Stanley Cup odds?

https://sports.yahoo.com/...s-nhl-camp-175048197.html

The Flyers got dropped from 40-1 to 50-1, likely because of the Brayden Schenn trade.

well you know.. its been over 40 years since the Flyers have won a Cup without at least one Schenn brother on the team.

I think that giving up the pieces (and it would be Provorov, not Myers/Sanheim/Morin) would make them less attractive because that depletes their assets.

Now, if they want to wiggle the cap to pursue him as a UFA, that's a discussion for 2 years from now.
