He's not that bad...his hands are tied in so many different ways there is only so much he can do. It gets way overblown on here.

It's funny how twitchy some people get... if they get 40 to 50 points and resign for league minimum one year deals with dual NMCes all that we'll hear is how they've handcuffed us with the no movement clauses.

People are hypocrites to hate on a player for not waiving. If i had a job, and took 5%-10% less salary per year to ensure that I wouldn't ever get transferred, I sure as hell wouldn't waive that right unless I actually wanted to move to a new city. I'd tell anyone who tried to pressure me into doing it to (frank) right off.

Why would anyone pay good money for a right and then choose not to use it for their own good?

Now if they pull a Kesler/Spezza/Etc by demanding a trade and being picky with where they want to go then yeah, that's a move that's fair to criticize.

Wrong spot, but Isaiah Thomas made a good point after he got traded from the Boston Celtics by GM Danny Ainge:

It’s not that I don’t understand it. Of course I get it: This is a business. Danny is a businessman, and he made a business move. I don’t agree with it, just personally, and I don’t think the Boston Celtics got better by making this trade. But that’s not my job. That’s Danny’s. And it’s a tough job, and he’s been really good at it. But at the end of the day, these deals just come down to one thing: business. So it’s no hard feelings on that end. I’m a grown man, and I know what I got into when I joined this league — and so far it’s been more blessings than curses. I’m not sitting here, writing this, because I feel I was wronged. I wasn’t wronged. It was Boston’s right to trade me.

Plus, in a lot of ways, I actually think this was a good lesson. Not only for me, but for the league as a whole. And for the fans and the media, too, you know, just in terms of how they talk about guys changing teams. I was thinking about that last year with KD and his free agency — about how people gave him such a hard time for doing what he felt was best for him and his future. How they turned him into a villain, just for doing what was his right to do as a free agent in this league. Suddenly, it was, “Oh, he’s selfish,” or, “Oh, he’s a coward.” Suddenly, just for doing business on his end, and doing right by himself, he was portrayed as this bad guy.

But that’s what I think my trade can show people. I want them to see how my getting traded — just like that, without any warning — by the franchise that I scratched and clawed for, and bled for, and put my everything on the line for? That’s why people need to fix their perspective. It’s like, man — with a few exceptions, unless we’re free agents, 99 times out of 100, it’s the owners with the power. So when players are getting moved left and right, and having their lives changed without any say-so, and it’s no big deal … but then the handful of times it flips, and the player has control … then it’s some scandal? Just being honest, but — to me, that says a lot about where we are as a league, and even as a society. And it says a lot about how far we still have to go.

Can't argue with that.

Good article, I might be in the minority but i feel they still deserve our respect and support, they're true professionals.

I can't believe the effect Anson had on them. I had no idea. If that's the case then why the (frank) was he not resigned? Because of money? Crazy when you think how the franchise has struggled to find someone who could fit.

Burrows was awesome with them but it was Burrows for Christ sake. What could have been...

Yeah, that's a great counterpoint to the perception that players are being greedy when exercising their contractual rights.

I think that Anson wanted term.... he was signed away and fizzled out shortly thereafter. Much better then Klatt.

Not to worry. I'm here to provide all the canuck hate you want, as long as it has to do with canuck management, we are golden.

And like that my post vanishes with your quote being all the period there is that it ever existed in the first place. Thanks for the morning hate

Weird from all angles. Obviously the twins are important to this franchise so you would think keeping them happy would have be their main goal.

I guess keeping their stars happy has never been a strong point for this franchise.

That would be the greatest thing to ever happen to 1040. Ever. Can you imagine the material 1040 could generate from that?

You know the other station wouldn't touch the subject so it would be only 1040 feeding at that trough!

Imagine the points they would have put up if they'd had a true sniper on their wing for their whole career, could have had some even more insane point totals.

On another note a decent read on the horvat contract.

Yes, they obviously needed someone who would go dig pucks out and thrive in the dirty areas. Someone like Forsberg would have been cuckoo crazy.

Who else?

Its a very well written piece. And they do deserve to with the end of their careers as they please. They've earned the right to choose their own path.

People need to stop suggesting the should go home to Sweden and play another couple years.

They are home, They have established family, and roots here. It's Vancouver or nothing. And thats AOK with me. In a lesser role of course.

Hello!

New blog is up with thoughts on yesterday's game including more on breakout star Yan-Pavel Laplante.

Plus, main camp notes and, of course, the Sedins.

I'll be back to liveblog today's Young Stars game again today at 2 p.m. in the new thread.
