Thanks, I will be heading into Brandon for the storm. Tampa hasn't been hit by a major hurricane in a century and now old granny Irma is going to do us in

well...I know my brother is well stocked with food, beer, crown royal and titos...that's how he battened down the hatches

Dan Bylsma > Ted Nolan, Ron Rolston.

You'd think it's the other way around with how he's talked about.

Rex Ryan was the worst coach in Buffalo last year, and I'm not sure it's remotely close

- sbroads24

tim murray resorted to draconian measures to keep the sabres at the bottom of the league in 2015...

ted Nolan did far more with much, much less than Bylsma had and his 2014-15 squad may have rivaled the point output of last year's team...

not saying Nolan is scotty bowman, but the players on his team will run through a wall for him and they always overachieve

It is one game but this was what he did in the two biggest WJ games.

There's no way he's an NHL'er right now. Needs another year at least

- sbroads24

hes a scoring winger, hes gunna float. watch willy play he does the same. Difference is hes producing enough to off set it but can see the vessels in babcocks face near explosion at times re: nylander.

He generates chances 5v5. That should be viewed as pure gold with this team.

Because the players on Ted Nolan's team, had to run through walls to have NHL careers.

Don't remember Tyson Strachan and Matt D'Agostini getting big deals after they left

Pu, Bailey, and Glotov were very good.

I have serious doubts about Nylander. He floats, is always waiting for the play to come to him instead of the other way around.

- sbroads24

wasn't it glotov who had a pretty strong development camp?...

didn't see the game but from what I read, muzito-bagenda, glotov and karabacek were the best line on the ice

William Nylander does not float. He's constantly moving, and is one of the better puck rushing players in the league already

I also have doubts about him. Outside of his shootouts I have not been overly impressed.

i'm not saying what they did after they left buffalo...

Nolan has a history of bringing out the best in players...Bylsma, post cup-win, seems like he does just the opposite...

again, i'm not saying Nolan is a hof coach

he's got some mad skills, but it might take a while for them to come out at the pro level...having a team that can do the heavy lifting will help him immensely...he didn't have that in Rochester last season and it looks as if he didn't have it in the prospects game

I never hated Nolan. (Didn't like rehiring him)

But I just think too much of last year is put on Bylsma and an Eichel injury, and not enough on a very shallow roster, with a few guys being heavily over rated

I get that...but we've had three players come out and say that what transpired last year was far from ideal...they're not going to call him out by name, but when you read between the lines, the fingers are pointing to him...

as for jack?

agree to disagree

not ever? im not knocking the guy i think hes amazing just that hes had his share of criticism with off puck play as well.

If nylander was billed as a 2 way centre and a guy we want to build around then this might be an issue. right now he projects as kane's replacement or secondary scoring.

I did think it was odd they tried him on the PK though..

That is true. Having a good team around him will do good for his development, but I still want to see moments where he takes over while on the ice.

he's still only 19...nearly all kids his age, including most picks in the 3-10 range, are still in junior or playing in Europe...

way too early to bail on him, imo

Maybe I wasn't clear, I don't mean taking shifts off once and a while.

I mean style of play. He's not creating anything like William does, he's waiting for the play to come to him constantly.

If he was a sniper with a great shot, I'd say that's fine, but he's supposed to be a playmaker

Definitely too early.

He's still a good prospect, just would like to see a little more from him

Definitely not bailing on him, and I am probably being a little hard on him regarding his development. I hope he can step in midway through the year and be a factor with the Sabres but if he spends the whole year in Rochester it will probably be good for him.

it might be a conscious decision by him or the coaching staff. maybe they want him being the finisher/shooting more? Admittedly im seeing what i want to see but i really like what he could bring 5v5.

Hopefully a better showing from him today or tomorrow or whenever the 2nd game is.

I thought people were talking about him, mainly as a bust...

that said, i'm not expecting more than a solid bottom-six forward
