OK, Nucks fans....do you guys like this deal? I'm sure I'll be labelled a "troll" here, but my honest opinion is that this is way too high. Horvat was a 20-goal scorer last season, getting tonnes of quality minutes because he played for a team with very few offensive weapons
And he'll be making $5.5M for the next six years???
The Leafs just signed Connor Brown, another 20 goal scorer with arguably a higher offensive ceiling, to a two-year deal at $2.1M per. I get that you've gotta pay more to secure a player for the long-term, but I just don't see Horvat as a $5.5M guy
What is up? - AxlRose91
Say WAY TOO HIGH then goes on rambling.

lol dude...Connor Brown has had one decent NHL season....one. Always a chance it could be a one-off.
Horvat has shown a consistent 35% progression in points gained per season for three straight years. Horvat got Douin money which is right in line with 50+ point guys.
When Connor Brown does that...we'll talk bro. |

You missed your troll window when posters were calling for a bridge deal because Bo will only be a 3C in the future. |

I don't want to tell you to go back and read all those days and several pages by posters but maybe they will surface and let you know themselves. |

Well u brought it up & I'm looking for clarity.
I don't recall any serious posts he was a 3C.
I do not include if he was on the Pens cuz he isn't. |

One is a true 1C & the other a very solid 2C.
Twice the money has nothing to do with anything.
If I were bulk shopping for groceries then yes.
This is about roles & values & the market nothing more. |

I don't recall any poster here calling Bo a third line center. I know DCT myself and a few others have said it would be nice to find two better centers because the talent level would be really high on this club.
Like a lot of things get twisted around on here by what they were suppose to mean.
I know for a fact that you have turned it into an art form of twisting what people say on here, and that is why so many posters find you extremely bloody annoying , myself included.
This group debates the talent level on here daily. Canucks are a long way from elite and should always try to find better players |

I'll jog your memory on those posters logic.
Their arguments went like this: Bo was a 1C on this sh!tty Canuck team. A 2C on a better one and a 3C on a contender. He hasn't proved anything. Why pay him now. Give him a bridge not to regret paying him more then he's worth. Just because he's the only shiny object on a sh!tty team.
On and on it went. Those are some of the nibbles for you to look for if you go back to read. |

Decent signing.
Seem's fair given all the facets that we've gone over already.
Personally, I would have preferred a shorter bridge deal to see if he can continue to develop, but i understand the rationale for locking him up longer term.
Future Captain (next year?).
Will likely be a solid 2C going forward.
Hopefully coach Green plays him with some quality wingers and he continues to develop.
What do people see as similar C comparables?
Hopefully a Paul Stastny/Mikko Koivu.
My fear is that he plateau's at a Derek Stepan ceiling. Not the worst thing in the world...but i hope for more. |
