Sorta related: George Parros expected to be named new head of NHL Safety.

I think he's actually a good choice for it, as he has played the role of enforcer and on that fine line of dirty hockey. He suffered a few too many concussions and will want to (hopefully) help prevent others from the same fate now that hes had to step away from the game

- WhiteLie

Believe it or not, Parros has been widely regarded as one of the most intelligent NHLers for some time. The Sporting News ranked him the most intelligent in the NHL and 4th within all sports in 2013. Graduating from Princeton with a 3.18 while majoring in economics and scoring 1250 SATs will do that.

Parros is an excellent choice for this role for a number of reasons, both on and off the ice.

All the D combinations are problematic because...Canucks.
We don't have a great top 6 and any combination leaves holes.

The obvious imo is:
Edler/Tanev
MDZ/Guds
Hutton/Stetch

Our best 2 dmen on the top pairing.
MDZ and Guds could complement each other well.
That bottom pairing would be exposed, but as someone mentioned you could try to protect them. Or rotate in a more solid stayathome guy like Weircoch if necessary.

I also would consider:
Edler-Stetcher
Hutton-Tanev
MDZ-Gudbranson

Stetch is clearly not a top Dman yet, but that spreads out the talent better imo.

Hutton back in the top4 also pretty much guarantees a top5 pick

I would have to assume Gudbrandson and Hutton are the bottom pairing D-men next year. Edler-Stecher/MDZ-Tanev more rotating depending on who is on the ice for the other team.

I would also think so, Holm might push Hutton for ice as well depending on how well he adjusts. I'm confident with less icetime Hutton could get back on track.

Hutton seeing the press box, and maybe maturing a bit wouldn't be the worst thing. I know a ton of people like the care-free attitude that Hutton brings but I think the kid needs some maturing to do, both on the ice and off. If Holm can push for a spot over Hutton/Juolevi than great. If they deserve it, then give it to them

So you like the 20 minute replay followed by a no goal call because the skate blade is a millimetre off the ice ?
- Redmile247

Not a fan of 20 min delays of course but if you are gonna have replay get it correct...or don't have it at all.

He's a smart guy. Graduated with an economics degree from Princeton.

Thank you for posting this. I will be the first to admit, that I wasn't avidly following the knights and watching every game, but I was following some of their major followers on twitter, and some of the things I saw were regression articles/tweets. Its stats and good information like this that are good to know.

It's tough to do anything other than stat watch with prospects...We have 82 games of trash to watch with the Canucks I did watch quite a few of Juolevi's playoff games though and I though he looked great! excited to see him in the preseason

The talk last year was that Victor Mete was getting more ice time and scoring more points. It was true but Mete's defence to OJ failed in comparison. Its junior hockey. Scoring seems to stand out. Way more then scoring to a scout. Otherwise you wouldnt have ppg players picked anywhere but the first round.
