18-year-old rookie sensation Sam Bennett only got 1.9x2? Wow, that's a steal! - whitefang

I just can't imagine Goblin on the 4th line. That would be a disaster. Are they going to give the 4th line offensive zone starts? Granlund should stick with the Sedins. Liked your D pairings though - CanuckDon
Gaunce and Burmistov are good 2 way players. Good insulation.

Agree about the d pairings as long as edler is decent and stecher continues to develop. - bloatedmosquito
Would be interesting going with 3 balanced D pairings. I guess in that scenario, Edler and EG would be the shut down pair |

That's pointless, we all know that GM's draft lists are completely different after the top 5 or 10. Plus isn't Benning considered a strong drafter by yourself and many other Canuck fans? We should assume he would have found some decent prospects with those picks that he traded.
Naslund put up 52 points in 66 games for Pittsburgh as a 22 year old in the NHL before he came to Vancouver.
Bertuzzi was traded by one of the dumbest GM's of all time, I'm guessing he flashed higher upside on those crappy Islander teams than what Milbury "thought". But yeah, he was a rare case of a late bloomer.
How many other cases like that have their been in the cap era? Quality prospects are worth more than ever, if a team is willing to trade one for a veteran to push them over the top then that's fine, but if a team is looking is to trade a prospects for a draft pick these days, that should raise some red flags. - Nucker101
for quite a stretch there he was holding a firesale on players. Anyone could be had for peanuts
Plus mike keenan (who did the trade for van) was pretty good at being able to pick a GMs pocket |

For a player at his age to be playing the way he was in that series was pretty incredible ....but he got a lot of tough love the next few years ...I think Hughson may have went a little overboard though |

I think the team finally give Bo some talent this year. Despite what some say, Eriksson is likely the most talented player and I think we will see him with Bo.
Eriksson Horvat Vanek
Sedin Sedin Sutter
Baertschi Granlund Gagner
Gaunce Burmistov Goldobin
Dorsett
Hutton Tanev
Edler Gudbranson
MDZ Stecher - belcherbd
Totally see TG trying that Bo line to establish a #1 line of vet support who know how to score in the NHL.
Same on Edler pairing so JB can evaluate Guddy worth.
But the rest don't look like the strongest of combos. Like putting Sutter with the Sedins is WD thinking. Safe don't score. BB, Granlund, even Gagner or Rodin would all do better.
Hutton hasn't shown top 4 readines let alone top pairing. MDZ will get the call first.
Fourth line is a crap shoot. Have seen so many versions. The only certainty there is that there is none. Anyone of them could just as easily be sent to Comets. Lots of guys in play there and we'll see post China trip who survives favor. |

It's just a shake down on who will stay or who will get sent down. This is discussed constantly and it's the last big test for line combos of preseason. |

That would be helpful.
His roster is BS. The Canucks have said all along that the China roster will be veteran heavy. |

It is look again. Only BB, Goldy and Rodin get a shot between 2 games on one of them sticking. So what's your BS look like? |

I think Edler Gudbranson in that scenario would be your top pair but as Don said it is more about having 3 pairings. Hutton and Tanev did quite well a couple of years ago and I like the potential there. I also like the vet-kid combo with the exception of Gudbranson who I also want to see with a steady presence.
I'm not sure any of BB, Granlund, Rodin, Gagner can make the Sedins better, they've always needed a Hansen/Burrows/Klatt type to bring out their best and as much as I dislike Sutter there, he is likely the closest to that type we have IMO.
The guys you mentioned will all likely put up decent enough points playing with them but as benefactors and not equal contributors.

No it's a bar friendly gesture but took it out if you took it the wrong way before I saw you reply. Now look at the edit and see if you can answer. How is it not vet loaded? |
