if you have faith in them, they are young, and are not ready for the NHL, then they shouldn't be there.

There is a really good chance Goldobin never plays D. He wouldn't be the first Russian forward to suck at D but they do know how to score.

He got $3.6M more than Wennberg, looks like he did have some extra leverage
- Nucker101

nice revisionist history. you said his leverage would get him 6+ which is what you were worried about.

mid 5 was discussed as reasonable and now you're saying that all that leverage got him an extra 600k a year.

That's basically NightHawk level of optimism.

As an optimist I peg it at 4-5 legit NHLer's

Then I guess we're lucky we didn't waste a 6th overall on him.
- As_I_See_It

Uncalled for. At least I can acknowledge Virtanen is a bust. It's not a shot at the leafs it was a shot at one prospect

No doubt, I'm sure that's part of the reason why SJ was willing to move him. But maybe he improves from being a floater to actually skating back and at least getting in position.

Let's hope he doesn't get inspired by watching Vanek #mentorship

If he can score 30 goals, I can accept some d liability.

I said that? i said I was worried that it's a possibility and that's what i would ask if I was his agent, I don't think I ever actually predicted the actual contract would be 6M+ long term but I could be wrong.

And yeah, 600K extra is pretty nice and it does show that he had more leverage. I think Wennberg signed for a bit less than most were expecting so that definitely helped out.

Exactly. A LVPD supervisor actually spoke to him shortly after the incident and Bennett said to him he was totally ok with how it was handled...then days or weeks later he posts all his bullsh**it about it. Guy is a fu**cking goof and I think it's going to be an issue for the Seahawks moving forward.

The question is, how much more rope does Jake have before he's dealt for a song?

No doubt, but no way in hell he gets that kind of ice time until he gets Green's(or future coach's) trust in the first place. And that's always difficult to do since most coaches prefer the guy who sucks offensively but backchecks/forechecks hard over the guy who can create offense for himself and others, but is going to cost you some goals sometimes with giveaways and not always backechking/forechecking at 100%.

600k extra picking a lowball contract?
I thought $5.3m would be about right. 200k extra in the end.
