It depends on the brand or price range u want.

Low end Matthews rookies are $5, the most popular one the upper deck young gun goes for about $250 and the high end autographed rookies go for about $1000. Marner is more valuable then Nylander for now but I think that will change. It really depends, this would be easy to answer if there was only one rookie card for each player but there is about 30 for each player with all the different brands and variations

It is obvious that the Leafs have too many forwards. I would like to see them move a couple and based on that premise for a right handed defenseman. If I had my way the roster would look like this:

Marleau-Matthews-Marner
JVR-Nylander-Leivo
Komo-Kadri-Brown
Martin-Moore-Hyman
Fehr
Reilly-???/Hainsey
Gardner-Zaitsev
???/Hainsey-Carrick
Marincin
Anderson
MacIlhenney

Reily's or Carricks's partner would be detemined by competition or what they get in a trade. If JVR is also traded then Kapenin moves up but everyone not mentioned goes to the Marlies. This way they save some cap money by going with 22 man roster. That last defenseman position is between the Swedes, Dermott, Neilson Marincin or whoever they bring in and would determine the pairs. If Marincin is the best then let the kids play with the Marlies and get a free agent for this year. Right now unless a Dumba, Trouba, or Manson is obtained it is best to see what the internal competition brings. It is not totally outside the realm of possibility that Lligen (??spelling) makes the team but I hope they are not tempted to bring him over until the swedish season is over then send him to the Marlies.

By the new year Lou can do his thing.

Matthews isn't going to want to leave the Mecca of hockey, where he can sign for more than anywhere else, and make 10x more in endorsements than anywhere else.


Especially with a team in the rise like this. If he really wants to play for the home town one day he can go there at the end of the career and sign a retire to deal.

Well said Burnsy. But unlike legendary drafted Leafs who did not finish their careers in Toronto like Sittler, Salming, Lanny & Wendell, it would be nice if at the end of his career if Auston could retire. Leaf. I know it's dam hard in today's NHL but in a perfect world, aswell as Auston, would be great if Mitch, Willie, Morgan & Connor could all retire as Leafs.

Actually Craw, I love those lines. Problem is that I think Babs stated last year he doesn't prefer to play Auston with Mitch. It's too bad as I have dreamed many many many times how faaaaaaaaaaabulous it would be to see them play together. We gotta convince Babs though.

We could keep JVR with these lines & finally have a well deserved spot for Lievo. Great job Craw!!!! LOVE THESE LINES
