To me they're basically lumped in with Chaput/Megna. These 2 got let go by bottom feeding teams for a reason.
I'd argue that better players have cleared waivers and better/similar players are still UFA's.
I'd like to see examples of other similar players who were let go by bottom feeding teams that ended up being signed and flipped for much higher because i can't remember any. |

It's Linden and his whole "we owe the Sedins to try and be competitive" thing. As much as people assume Aquilini is pushing for this, It's starting to look more and more like it's Linden's personal relationship with 2 players on the team that's really steering the ship. Not to excuse Benning of all blame since his execution of this bad plan could've been way better but the hiring of Linden as president set this team back a few years. |

Van's biggest trade chip at the TDL, if not signed is EG. And TBH, why would he resign with Van during the season when he can test UFA? |

I don't mind Benning he does good and bad. Linden is the one I really don't like. Like I said earlier today Benning has been mysteriously quiet . |

You could say that about pending UFA. Why wouldn't he sign if he likes the city, has a better season under a new coach, and if offered a good contract?
I'd listen to offers for him at the TDL for sure, but if it's just a bunch of lowballs or another Goldobin being offered then I'd probably just re-sign him(not too much term and preferably with a limited NTC since I assume he'll want one). He's never going to be a strong puck mover so he needs to establish himself as a shutdown dman otherwise he's simply not a top 4 guy.
But if he's asking for 4M+ long-term, I'd sell him to the highest bidder at the TDL, even if the offer isn't great value. |

I'm going to come out of hiding.
Isn't this what we wanted?
1- Sign players that can be moved at the TDL for more picks and or prospects
2- Let the kids "bake" in Utica.
There will be injuries thats for sure. Players like Goldobin and Virtanen may not play 82, but they'll get their games.
This works for me. The Canucks won't make the playoffs. Another bottom 5 pick would be welcoming and that is likely what we will get.

Benning was clearly looking to move him but the player did not want to play for Canucks.
Edler is the real player Canucks should ask to waive his NTC |

Good move in theory.
May have been better with a guy like Winnik who has that 3rd line grinder thing going on that playoff teams like. Either way, give Vanek all the good zone starts and plenty of PP time then flip him. Pump and dump. Easy peasy.
Keep following the Leafs model and it should turn out fine. Sign European FA's like Holm, draft a lot, and keep flipping.
It starts with getting Utica competitive first then the Nucks. The kids need to win games in the AHL before moving to the bigs (minus the obvious standouts)
Good job Benning. - walshyleafsfan

Pretty much. I think his defensive game is pretty underrated, but man he's a black hole offensively in the NHL. In the AHL/junior, he was decent so maybe he can crack 15-20 points a year and turn into a strong defensive C that you cant trust against a scoring line. - Nucker101

Depends on the source? The Panthers "insider" on HF said that the deal was Sutter for Demers.
I'm 110% on board with moving Edler. I've wanted him traded for awhile now. |

Would be almost as good as Riley Sheahan going goal less until scoring 2 goals in game 82 with Detroit last year. |

Some bars hand out pucks with a players name and number on it. When your player scores, you win a round of drinks.
Imagine getting Gaunce? I got Sbisa once. |

I'm assuming if he was willing to take less then 4mil, Van would have signed him to a longer term then 1yr. Obviously the decision is EG's. Tell me, would you resign when you would have an opportunity to see what's out there?

And play or a better team. The only way Vancouver can sign free agents is to overpay . |
