Our PP was dreadful, hopefully he'll help that a bit. I really don't think Vanek alone is going to push this team from the cellar into the dreaded bubble status.

I also don't see this as a sign that management is making a push for the playoffs or attempting to block any youth from cracking the squad.

Competition is good, scoring goals is good, depth is good and if Utica can win some playoff games that is good for all the prospects down there.

I don't feel too strongly on this topic, but the counter-argument would be that having another year at the bottom of the standings, unable to score goals, with an atrocious pp would harm the development of the Bo's, Brock's, Sven's and Granlunds.

Again, i don't think Vanek is going to push us up the standings personally.
i see us losing 4-3 with more scoring, as opposed to 4-1 or 4-2.

I don't see how we could do worse than last year, but come TDL, i'd expect JB to try to move some pieces and give the kids a chance at that time.

That message got lost somewhere and now it is about extending and competing now.

Vanek alone would not be a discussion at all But it is now Vanek Gagner Eriksson Sutter Sedins. This is a try and win now team they are trying to assemble.

Both the GM and Pres have said they expect bounce back years from the Sedins.

Carol touched on this in the blog that this is done on late Friday afternoon before a long weekend. This is the type of news you let the fan base and media stew over for three days before mgmt face the music.

Bo will be announced Tuesday or Wednesday, if Vanek was a truly positive why not announce it along with Bo and have two great things to brag about

Speculation was it was a nugget of news that they were saving to give their new flagship station a running start .

I do think Bo is already signed and will say it is 6 yrs 5.3 . Just my guess.
