Mrs Makita is meeting with a realtor tomorrow, we had an professional assessment about a month ago, and we have had one private offer $100,000 under the assessed quote, that's why she is meeting the realtor

Would the property be suitable for the picnic, liability issues aside?
Will we need a burning permit?

Unfortunately saanich requires a burning permit, but Metchosin doesn't after Oct 15-30 depending on the climate. But I'm not sure I would want a bludgeoned Bocce or Croquet game on either properties. Let's continue to discuss and plan picnic festivities and I'm sure we can figure out something appropriate

Why? Does extending two (not one) 38 year olds sound like a really smart thing to do?
- VANTEL

i couldnt hold on and read the other 10 pages so apologies if this is dead

BUT

you cant do that. not for hall of famers. they do what they want.

AND

its not the end of the world if they're in the 40-50 range @ 5m or so

BECAUSE

the last thing we want is Bo to go all Matt Duchene on us

You know if they can cut some deadweight, Sutter, they can sign Tavares, Turris and Kane next summer for 25 million

#rebuildover

- LeftCoaster

yes. rebuild over indeed. we'd just need to do it all again in about 3 years

Thats true, this will probably get flagged, but if the leafs can keep the 3 young guys, and add Tavares, they will be a cup threat.
- phyllee

rielly really needs to develop in that scenario tho imo

quite right.
when you think about it, that's quite an important distinction between him and our 2 best players (yes, i still list them as our best players).

Crosby makes nobody's all-stars.
Sedin's struggle to find the right fit (Burrows being the exception).

seems like they've turned countless 3rd line grinders into point producers over their career

Nux fan since before Ohlund was drafted. Have the twins not earned the Lidstrom, 1 year contracts as long as they are helping/mentoring? There has to be some slack for players that helped grow the team... Still on page 17, had to comment

True but some preach patience & others have none.
Sedins resigned or not won't stall a rebuild or hold back prospects.
UFA market sux these days & won't find any better vets.
Its 2-3yrs before we can make waves & how well our kids develop will dictate how big those waves might become. Upcoming drafts r very key for us to get elite talent.

You know what they've earned, their pay check, the organization owes them nothing and they owe the organization nothing, it was a mutually beneficial agreement for both. The respect they'll get is when their numbers are retired by the organization for being the best players who've ever played here, not the most talented (Bure) but best.

That said, I'm one of the ones who'd like to see them move along, but, that has nothing to do with rebuilding, I just want to see a different brand of hockey. They're the teams best players still so a one year extension is very likely while some kids develop.

What a crock of poop, if any player can help your team be better, regardless of his age, then he belongs on the team, providing he's proven he belongs. Riding a bus for the sake of riding a bus is idiotic.

If you can help and you can handle physicality of the league, you play, simple as that.

- LeftCoaster

Only if it was that simple. There are a lot of other factors.

Majorly overrates, Canucks are terrible, prospects are mediocre, last year both Stecher and Hutton belonged in Utica. Goldobin plays one end of the ice, Baertchi is as soft as butter. The forth line of who ever was cast belonged in the AHL.

Eriksson majorly underachieved. Man I can go on and on, but the whole conversation is play the kids that belong in the AHL. poopcan the Sedins, but still the only 2 still producing even at 37, besides Horvat.

I really think people need to get their heads out of the deep end, it's not the Sedins holding the team where they are, it's crappy support players that come anywhere close to pushing them aside.

And don't go with the " well they get all the choice minutes", yeah the also get all the other teams top defenders and their still out producing anyone not named Horvat.

Just because there is hate or dislike from some posters here certainly doesn't mean they have any insightful knowledge on what it takes to dress a team.

- Makita

Good to know at least a few in here understand. People are blinded by what they want, not what is right. Its always been a hate/love affair that doesnt allow peiple to see clearly.

Sadly if i remember correctly, Torts had a better record at the all-star break then WD ever did. Then it fell apart for him.

Yes and Vanek doesn't back check either.
- VANTEL

Now that he's part of the country club he probably won't pass to Boeser on the PP either

Canucks spend 25 mil ,one third of the cap on 4 players who bring mediocre skill. The fans here are not the only ones who don't know how to dress a team. Canucks management know d1ck all also.

What a waste of money. Oh an you cant trade any of them also.

I'm assuming that 25mil and 4 players includes the twins, LE and Edler??
So whats management supposed to do, considering the fact they're basically all untradable??

Yes this year is a write off . Don't make the same mistake next year and the year after.

Three of those contracts come off the books this year and next . Don't make a huge huge mistake by bring back any of them

Damned if they do damned if they don't. Our prospects are better yes but they are not ready for 2-3 years. I get what MNGT is trying to do. Bring in guys like Vanek Gagner MDZ to boost offence for a few more wins and if not move them out for picks at a preferable time. I'm all about giving the kids a shot but let's make sure they are ready. I'd rather watch Vanek Gagner MDZ over Chappoo Skille and Magma anyday ...it is what it is for now.

Exactly, I think the majority of posters/fans are about ready for them to move on and usher in the next group. But some people (not you)are clueless as to how contracts work.
Take Daniel for example (the lesser Sedin) from 06-09 he made 3.5 and put up 84,74,82pts, basically making half of what he should've made. Then the next contract was 09-13 @ 6.1 and had 343pts in 337 games. Now on their last contract, 4yr, 7mil and they still put up great numbers. Last year, was realistically the only one he didnt earn his contract. You guys should check out some of the horrific contracts around the league. There's tons of them, for longer and larger amounts, for players that arnt anywhere near the twins calibre. We should be counting our lucky stars the 7mil deals werent for another 2-3 years.

That sort of thinking is great if the final goal is to build a campfire , hold hand and sing kumbaya.

Smart managers get production on entry level contracts , sign them to a reasonable
contract in their prime and move them out on their decline. Falling in love with the name on the back of the jersey is a recipe for losing

This this and this - You couldnt have summed it up any better. It seems pretty clear cut, the intention. I think last year, there was too many rookies in the lineup and we saw what happened, so ushering them in too fast ends up being similar to the Oilers mold. As much as we cant stand having to watch these vet guys, I think this is the way it is for this year and even next.
