It's hard to really know when prospects are ready. Why camps, call ups and end of season try outs really tell the story.
I remember you seeing OJ play and saying he's ready for the NHL. But given who's coming to camp we won't know what role if any he earns. Projections and reality don't fit hand and glove. Surprises abound. Some players find a role on the roster right away or languish away for oppportunity. It's a fluid mixture.
Maybe one or none of those prospects mentioned above find a way. For example, EP could just as easily come into a role next season or stay in Sweden for 3 more years. - Nuck4U
EP will be here at the end of his SHL season. Probably around 180. Take the summer and come to camp at 190. |

Best of the best $$$$$$$. I got no idea what im going to do this year. I wish Utica was in the same division as the Moose. Watching AAA hockey instead of the wheat kings doesnt excite me. - manvanfan
Watching young players bring it every shift does. |

Benning said this morning we will not ask the twins to waive. (understandable )
Daniel " I can't foresee us playing anywhere else (this morning)
We will announce what the future of the Sedins are in a few weeks (Benning this morning)
Daniel we really enjoy helping the youth here (this morning) - VANTEL

Agree it's been on my prediction list. Like Guadette as well.
There is an accumulation of wingers but the true turnaround for Canucks won't be realized until their new centers are brought in.
The jury is out if EP will play center. His talent can't be denied. Depending on Canucks 2018 1st rounder we will see which direction they drive EP into.
The wingers will be culled over the internal competition set up. But prospect Center development will define that the rebuild has matured. Bo is part of that picture starting this season. |

Except past the first line on each team will probably never make it past AAA hockey. |

Van has lots of potential wingers, no stud ones though. Or Stud D. |

I will be honest , I said last year if they were extended I would stop watching until they are gone. I am now rethinking if I should move it up a year and just follow the Comets this year. - VANTEL
every year I say I will stop watching this BS bettman nhl where the rules keep changing from shift to shift and the refs havnt got a clue and the command center cant tell what offside or goalie interference is, and player safety is so facked up but I keep watching |

12 opening night forward spots available.
Hank
Dank
Eriksson
Sutter
Gagner
Dorsett
Vanek
Baertschi
Granlund
Horvat
10 spots that will most likely be taken. Assuming all are healthy!
Boeser
Burmy
Gaunce
Goldobin
Rodin
Boucher
Chaput
Megna
Boeser and Goldobin dont need waivers. Burmy, Rodin, chaput, megna would probably clear waivers. So spots 11 and 12 go to Boucher and Gaunce. |

I don't think they're will be too much rushing - guys like Demko, OJ, Brisebois, Chatfield are still 2-3 years.
Pettersson needs at least a year overseas, then possibly another in Utica.
Dahlen & Gaudette could be ready next year for sheltered minutes.
Goldobin, Virtanen, McEwen = may have another year in the A, with a few possible callups.
Guys like Gadjovich, Lockwood, Lind, Rathbone = 2-3 years away as well.
This is a slow, proper way to develop, while dipsh*ts like Sutter, Gagne, Edler, Sedins, MDZ, Vanek, plug the spots for the next few years. - Brooks_Light
Exactly. ...and the vet plugs will eventually welcome being offloaded I think after the Sedins retire. Picks are coming, prospects are growing.

I look forward to the day when they draft and develop someone good enough to take those minutes away from them. To date only Horvat has shown he's capable of doing that and he can't do it alone. |

At this point no studs period. But lotto luck will hamper that. Though there are lots of gamers. The culling of wingers will produce some pieces to help the new center core.
As for D well it's more murky. Tree's status adds to it. OJ development too. Then past that even more question marks. The 2018 draft could define it better. |

I'll be really be disappointed. I'd rather they let them walk and take a shot at signing Stasney. He'd be easier to move as a single later in his contract and would be a decnet stop gap down the middle. They'd miss most likely on that... but signing the Sedins would mean they have no confidence in their drafting/trading at all. After that,,,, what reason is there to stick with this management?
We'll see. I hope they just come out and announce that talks won't happen during the season in an attempt to keep the distractions down. Of course signing them would also achieve that.

A 25 to 30 pound gain isnt likely to happen even in 3 years let alone 1. I'm thinking more like 10 to 15 pounds. If he's 175 at camp next year... it will be a good sign... there's been debate if he was even 160 leading up to the draft...
