Doesn't Bo become a flight risk if the team shows zero promise after his two year bridge is up?
- LordHumungous

That'd be a bigger concern if it's a 3 year bridge, I believe he becomes UFA eligible 4 years from now.

A 3-4 year contract would be by far the worst case scenario.

I know some people find it funny that we're acting like he's our McJesus/Eichel/Matthews, but that's what happens when the franchise has sucked at drafting/developing talent for years and has had poopty lottery luck.

I do think he has more upside than 3LC on a contending team, I see him as an offensive minded powerfoward 2LC.

bridge deal has to be 2 years. that will give 2 arbitration years to bo.

giving him 1 arbitration year is disastrous and i'll be chicken little if and when...

Lots of great radio out there people are just too lazy now to go out and look for it.

CKUA out of Edmonton is truly an outstanding (listener supported) radio station that one can access to both analog tuning and on the web. No advertiser influence for programming and they do have some great programs.

CBC still has some decent radio as well such as the Strombo Show and Randy Bachman's vinyl tap.

Just gotta get out there and listen bro...

my point being that while there might be great radio, there are fewer and fewer listeners.

just like network tv and newspapers are rapidly losing their customer base, radio is on the decline and that has nothing to do with quality.

(and the strombo show? yeah, i'm gonna pass on that dude.)

I'd be all over that. Hell, I'd be down to add a 7th or 8th year and make it 5.5M

lol you'd be surprised some of the quality bands he has on there. Pretty eclectic mix of tunes too.

While I agree mainstream radio is in big trouble in many ways, stations like CKUA have survived by primarily satisfying their listener market and not succumbing to advertiser influences. Now are there enough good, young listeners to keep it going super long term? Hard to say but when they run their donation telethons and such they get massive support as they provide and cater to a certain crowd.

Check em out online at CKUA.com you may find a program you really like if you have an open-mind towards music and it's artistic impact.

Reasonable cap hit too, if he continues to excel it could be great value

i think that's the issue in a nutshell.

time is finite and i don't listen to radio. i'll listen to radio shows aka podcasts. i'm sure that some of those shows would be/are great podcasts and i'll probably look into what's there.

but, i'm not listening to a radio station all day or all drive long. too many options that i've already got on my "to listen to" list.

just like news, i'd rather go to a news aggregation website and pick and choose what i want to read. i don't need to go to a single newspaper and read everything they have.

absolutely.

i've had the thought before that these young players should be doing 4-6 year contracts. that would maximize the number of contracts they receive through their careers maximizing the over all dollar value.

the player gives up some money up front banking on the cap and his value going up long term.

protects teams as well from players not performing after a long term deal is signed.
R. Dipietro comes to mind....15 year contract. 45 min or so into the contract and he's injured and never played. 2013 nyi buys out the last 8 years of his contract.
