Interesting.
What if he's willing to do a Wemnberg contract? 5M per over 6 years.
You'd rather do 4.5M for 2 years and then have to re-negotiate a long term deal again when he may want even more money? - Nucker101
I think he wants a lot more than 5 mil over 6 years thats the problem. Thats why he needs a bridge deal. |

I agree BB should get a good look, he's offensive, built from the same character as Bo. JV, I agree the second half of his rookie year he showed some improvement. What happen to him last year? He is not ready. If he can go to the AHL and really learn the game as high speeds he will eventually make the team, but not this year. Goldobin, needs to play top 6, his strength is offense....but where does he fit? - Kaynine
Why does Goldobin need to start top 6 , why not third line? |

I would say he gets less than that in a bridge deal. He still has a lot to learn. He was our leading scorer. 20 goals and 50 points is not 6 million dollar money.
I would give him 9 million over 2 years. Thats it. - thundachunk
Which is what I've been saying all this time... if he has 2 seasons where he ups his points, then sign him for 8x7.5+, he'll have earned it and by then we'll have a much better idea of what our core will be going forward since the Sedins and Edler will be gone by then for sure and EP/Dahlen/Goldy/Boeser/JV/OJ/'18 1st rounder/possibly '19 1st rounder. |

It would be nice to see Edler moved to a contender for a first. One can hope - VANTEL
Moving Edler wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit, but I would be ecstatic if Erickson got shipped out.
Any of the vets around 30 being moved would be a nice thing. |

8x7.5+ - Nucker101
If he's scoring at a PPG pace by the end of 2 years, with inflation, he's worth that much at least. Matthews is going to be getting more than Kane/Toews money from Toronto so that's going to be a factor by then driving up 1st line prices. |

Do you think their careers will be harmed by playing half a season in Utica? - CanuckDon
That's irrelevant, they're signing guys (a guy) to fill roles these kids should have a chance at grabbing, it doesn't sit well with me. Also, it may affect Goldobin's career if he says you're not interested in giving me a chance so (frank) it I'm outta here. As I said, my opinion is he should be given a long look in the regular season like they gave Baertschi.
They just lost a guy to the KHL because of deployment issues, whether he was liked or not he was one of their better D last half of the year. |

Well you see a player that deserves a shot and I see a player that doesn't. He can't play defense and he takes every second shift off. He deserves to be rewarded? Weren't you complaining last season about kids being gifted spots? You can't have it both ways. IF, Goblin kills it in camp and preseason and he doesn't make the team? Well, fans will have a right to be pissed off. Managment said they will waive a vet if it happens so we shall see. I think Goblin is overrated because he scored a pretty break away goal in his first game |

He was our best D imo. Pretty upsetting that he moved on. I don't buy the not liked by the team hype. To me its a clear cut mismanagement issue. |

If as Lefty says and he gets those PP minutes he could get another 10 -15 goals. Then he is worth the 6 million. |

I don't get why it's confusing...analyze their moves, not the garbage that comes out of his mouth. They are loading up on vets in order to protect the kids in Utica. It's straight forward - CanuckDon
That's my take also. UFA signings look to improve the PP & PK.
Veteran depth for the prospects to develop in Utica & earn call ups.
Injuries or trades will occur with the roster changing from beginning of the season til the end. |

I understand protecting the kids, makes sense. But when he says he transitioning and then will go and resign the Sedins....is that transitioning? - Kaynine
The only kid I see ready is BB.
Goblin is is on the cusp & its a wait n see game if ready for the jump.
Where either can fit in this logjam atm idk.
As for the rebuild its ongoing after trading Burrows & Hansen & the last draft.
Some may think a rebuild is many years but it can a year by year plan as well.
The transition is using UFA stop gaps to buy some time & use this season & the TDL to both compete & create more competition. I don't believe JB puts faith in the lottery & will roll with however it plays out confident he can draft well again. |

10-15 goals just from an extra min per game on the PP? I don't see it. |
