Finally, there is a training camp with competition! Should be a fun pre-season. I wasn't thrilled with the Vanek signing but did like the low key UFA signings in the summer. Fill a few gaps and don't rush the kids.

Hopefully the lord of the Canucks thread, Nuck4U will eventually accept me. Until then, I will remain a humble newbie and speak only when spoken to.

I chuckled at "showcasing" Burmistrov and Weircoch.

These guys could barely crack rosters on bottom feeding teams. They're scrubs and players of their caliber are waived throughout the season. Canucks aren't getting poop for the at the TDL.

And Vanek has a bad rep in the playoffs so he's not going to be a hot commodity at the TDL for contending teams. Likely has more value to teams who are in a fight for a playoff spot and need his regular season offense. I'm fine with signing him but not expecting more than a 3rd or 4th round pick at the TDL.

I hope Benning does more of the sign and flip on 1 year deals. A strategy some of us have been begging them to use since they took over.

Outside of Vanek, there's no obvious piece for sale. Could be one of Edler/Tanev/RealGud(I'm not a big Edler/Gudbranson fan so I'd look to trade 1 for sure), but outside of that I'm not expecting a firesale of any kind.

If Vanek has an Eriksson type of season or Vrbata(year 2 version) then he won't get us diddly poo either.


Seems like the main goal this off-season was to sign stop gap veterans so that the youth isn't rushed, selling players seems more like something they may or may not do depending on how things go. Vanek is really the only signing that signals a sign and flip strategy.

Codes he was attacked on his first post. Others questioned him being an alt with bans. I was the first and only one to say say welcome to him. Gave a supporting comment to his post. He replied with a negative personal comment.
Since then haven't engaged. Yet he shows up to post negative comments, with no substance, to my posts and some others. Does that sound like someone new looking to engage in discourse?

Its not up to you or me to police this place. If a ref deems his conduct to be destructive and outside the rules of CoC than he will be dealt with accordingly. He hasnt broken amy rules.

Never know , maybe a wildcard has a good season and resurrects their career to some degree and garners a pick. If not then waiver wire time or just let them run out the string .
