We’ve talked to Henrik and Daniel,” Linden said. “I think having a strong second line can take some pressure off them. That’s part of the challenge. Daniel and Henirk are our No. 1 option and that’s not fair to them. It’s up to us to provide an option.

Pretty much what many here acknowledge even though they don't like it. Posters say the team sucks, the players are trash and it will be like this for years until D&D matures. Plus they have no answer to what lines would outplay the Sedins. Until that happens that's the reality that Sedins are on top taking all the big minutes.
Will say it again, the challenge for TG is developing players into out performing Sedins in taking the hard minutes. Unless that happens they will get extended and top prospects will be left marinating outside the NHL. |

Outside of a Horvat line, no other line is better than the Sedins right now. People can pretend like spoonfeeding bottom 6 players top 6 minutes will make those players magically better, but that ain't happening. It's not the Canucks bottom 6 last year was some sort of a bright spot that outplayed other team's lines. The entire forward group sucked and outside of Horvat, no forward was being held back. Horvat should have been on PP1, no other player was getting held back by coaches. |

Linden is a professional and President of a NHL team. I'll trust his opinions over all of yours. - Nucker101
I'm waiting for him to announce the Bo bridge of $4M x 2 and Franson pick up of $2.5M x 1 deals. |

Im the minority. I would rather start all the kids in utica, showcase weircoch, vanek, burmistrov and trade them at TDL. Bring the kids up after. Have a good draft and let them battle when the Sedins are gone. Let Utica be a power house next year a develop a winning culture. Boesers development wont hinder by playing a year in the AHL, even though most signs point to him being ready. - Codes1087
Well with us loading up on vets that seems the case.
I'm ok with your post other than Boeser needs the money in RL. |

I chuckled at "showcasing" Burmistrov and Weircoch.
These guys could barely crack rosters on bottom feeding teams. They're scrubs and players of their caliber are waived throughout the season. Canucks aren't getting poop for the at the TDL.
And Vanek has a bad rep in the playoffs so he's not going to be a hot commodity at the TDL for contending teams. Likely has more value to teams who are in a fight for a playoff spot and need his regular season offense. I'm fine with signing him but not expecting more than a 3rd or 4th round pick at the TDL.
I hope Benning does more of the sign and flip on 1 year deals. A strategy some of us have been begging them to use since they took over. |

Linden still thinks our #1 line is the Sedins. Feck Bo doesn't get a lot of respect, does he? The good thing about this is if they are our #1 line then bottom 5 won't be hard to obtain. - Kaynine

Not a popularity contest & who Ops thinks is our #1 line is what matters. |

If we get assets for Vanek and Gudbranson that would be a solid TDL. Perhaps Del Zotto and Baertchi could be traded as well |

I don't think think Gagner/MDZ get moved this year. I'd be 100% on board with trading the other 3. |

I agree with Gagner, too long of a term. Zotto, probably next deadline but you never know. Hansen was traded w term (yes, different circumstances ) |

Looks like they are going for the pump and dump of vets and stewing prospects for call ups. Have the prospects learn the NHL game when mistakes matter less post TDL. |

But some bubble teams may buy low on him to help with the playoff push. If he gets us a 4th or 5th then he was worth it. Outside of BB I think our young forwards need another season in AHL with being first call-ups. |

Oh man, so many bad moves over the years. I think the Linden/Bert/Lou trading cycle was probably the best. The Bure/Jovo cycle died at Jovo I think.
Naslund didn't turn into anything. The twins won't turn into anything. So sad. - bloatedmosquito

Thanks! I've been reading in here for the past year and a half, some very knowledgeable & passionate posters. A couple of very annoying ones, too.
Finally, there is a training camp with competition! Should be a fun pre-season. I wasn't thrilled with the Vanek signing but did like the low key UFA signings in the summer. Fill a few gaps and don't rush the kids.
Hopefully the lord of the Canucks thread, Nuck4U will eventually accept me. Until then, I will remain a humble newbie and speak only when spoken to. |
