Yep. The Sedins have said they're going, and the idea certainly seems to be to show off the stars.

I wonder if there was a trade-off, that by doing this promo tour the Canucks got a better regular-season schedule than usual?

- Carol Schram

what are we showcasing though? China has a team in the KHL right now.

Perhaps it was just speculation but I had thought I read it would be made up of mostly NHLers for the purpose of marketing.

The Nucks schedule looks much better compared to the past few years iirc, I imagine the NHL was asking for more than scrubs to make that work.

- belcherbd

Regardless, IMO it's huge distraction and does little for the canuck brand specifically.

Well the season can't start soon enough so we can start the in-fighting and constant barrage from other fan bases tell us how (frank)ed we are

JPeg War doesn't have the same marketability.

I really liked Ruutu. Hell I really liked that version of the canucks when they used to drive opposing players crazy. The canucks won many games by distracting the opposition. And fun to watch too.

Ok, but the facts contradict your opinion.

This year? I don't see much improvement above 69 points they have last season.

1. Goaltending is worse
2. New coach, new systems, longer time to adjust
3. Best players are one year older/slower
4. Still no second scoring line
5. Travel schedule and injuries will continue to be an issue (and a pre-season in China!)
6. Benning and Linden still run the team

I'll give credit to Benning for being a solid drafter, but unfortunately the NHL doesn't told drafts throughout the regular season.

- bloatedmosquito

1. Technically Marky's # were as good or better than Miller per games played.
2. If we still had the full country club here yes but the adj. period will be much less considering the player(s) that are here will be much different than last years overall roster.
3. Sedins said they will be better...Eriksson should step up.
4. Brovat will make sure we have a second scoring line.
5. I thought our schedule was way better this year?
6. All final decisions still most likely go through the Aqua-feenies...can't hang too much on Benning and Linden for Gillis' lack of foresight.

I have us in 24th spot no higher. What that translates to points not sure.

Yup.
A veteran heavy team heading to China to promote the NHL.

I'm pretty sure that promoting the NHL with the current Canuck roster is the epitome of an oxymoron.

This a 100 point team......Linden and Benning have done it again......saving this organization!

Big year from the Sedins - mark it!

1. Goaltending is worse our backup had better numbers than Miller. your opinion
2. New coach, new systems, longer time to adjust - no systems would have produced better results. this is bs
3. Best players are one year older/slower - Horvat, Granlund, Stecher and possibly Boeser are our best players. bs
4. Still no second scoring line - sort of true. in reality we have two 2nd lines and no first line.
5. Travel schedule and injuries will continue to be an issue (and a pre-season in China!) - As addressed in Carol's blog a month ago, our schedule is substantially better this year
6. Benning and Linden still run the team - your opinion, not worth responding to

I'll give credit to Benning for being a solid drafter, but unfortunately the NHL doesn't told drafts throughout the regular season.

COL/LV are the only two teams in the west that could be worse than the Canucks.

Thanks for the confirmation Carol, although you might find some here who would argue the Sedins are not NHLers.
