lol since when were bridge deals piss poor management. A few years ago, fans would scream "entitled little poop!" if players demanded anything more than a bridge, now teams are paying young players big big money and long term right out of ELC's and that is the norm?
and you are just predicting a train wreck season now? |

more expensive in the long run. in exchange, they can lock him up for a longer duration of his career. the dynamics of the next negotiation will be fun to watch for this fan base.
it's interesting how they are going to manage the cap. if the prospects pan out even a little, the team will have to manage when big contracts will have to be awarded.
that is why, let the sedins' contracts come off the books but keep the vast majority of the cap savings. that money will be eroded over the next few years for bigger contracts. keep cap space. stay away from high priced UFAs until you have the new core of prospects ready to step up and lead. |

Have you noticed the new trend by management not to hand out long term big money deals. They are smarting from LE. Last straw to retool.
If Bo is asking for $6+ for 6/7 I can see the stalemate and bridge alternative. |

100%. He will make much more in the long run and will have even more leverage if he signs a bridge. |

This team is gonna be trash for the next 2 years at least so why not go long term and pay more during the next 2-3 years to save cap long term?
Bridge deal = cheaper Horvat for next 2-3 years, more expensive Horvat on next contract when the team should be on the rise hopefully
Long term deal = more expensive Horvat for next 2-3 years compared to bridge deal, but likely a cheaper Horvat for years 4 through 6 or 7 compared to having to re-sign him after a bridge deal(agents/players always ask for more to make up for the bridge deal discount).
I know which one I'm choosing.
