Here's how the NHL can expand fan excitement:
Stanley Cup (playoff championship trophy)
President's Trophy (regular season trophy)
Original Six Cup
Derby's (essentially subway series)
Special rivalry events such as Boston/Montreal, Rangers/Pens, etc.
What else? How about an international club events where the best club teams from around the world complete. That would be better than those stupid World Cups and National team tournaments. Save that poop for the Olympics. - bloatedmosquito

Football has the million different college bowls that are celebrated, baseball throws championship parties for clinching a playoff spot/winning division/winning playoff round/etc. Basketball I think is the only one that doesnt have secondary team awards that get celebrated.
Point is, why bother having a presidents trophy or any other awards if they mean nothing? And further to that, why not have more like rivalry games to bring more entertainment since only 1/31 teams win the cup? - WhiteLie
Baseball pennants races used to be huge at one point (winning AL or NL). I remember having a bunch of championship pennants by dad used to bring home when he traveled. I used to love collecting those things. |

I am not echoing your thoughts because as I said in the past I never read most of your stuff.
I basically write what I feel and seldom get my ideas from anyone else.
No offence meant. - VANTEL
The point was we were on the same page as independent thinkers on this angle.
We all read what's posted whether acknowledged or not. Sometimes we add. Sometimes we move on. Sometimes we disagree. Sometimes we discuss further.

Oh, Donnie Taylor.
He must be so pissed that everything he touches has gone sideways. First TV host gig, then loses his spot on Sportsnet radio live broadcast, now loses spot on canucks official radio station.
He even gets very mad when some fan disagrees with him on air. |

I have been on the move the Sedins for years and years , I am not echoing no ones posts. That is all I am saying.
If we happen to have a same agreement fine but I am not echoing someone else. |

Literally every team in the league has ex players as either GM, Presidents, or coach - how is Linden any different?

Then you will be really surprised if Canucks sign EP to bring him in for a look at end of season.
I get the AHL development rung and how it's good. Though EP is junior aged playing with men in the best league in Europe. You shouldn't be surprised if he skips the AHL and earns a roster spot on Canucks next year.
What we don't know is if his size allows him to play center at the NHL level. He may not start there but bulk up to it. So riding shotgun to Bo, Sutter or other won't be a bad development step. - Nuck4U
Not a lot of centers that get their start on the wing, really ever get back to center. Galchenyuk can't seem to get it down. While Seguin skates at a 1C, a lot of people consider him still a RW lining up down the middle - Eakin and Spezza have spent a lot of time split between him and Benn. Kessel never got back to center after being drafted. Johansson, Teravainen, 18 yo Sam Bennett, etc. I doubt Willie Nylander will find himself at as a center at the NHL.
Guys like Gagner, Hertl and Coyle are not the norm. Usually once guys come in on the wing they end up staying there before long. And even then, all three of those guys take as many or more shifts as wingers than they do as centers. |

I know your stance with Sedins. But now you stray off what was being talked about. Like the conditions needed now for team to develop beyond them. Take the word echo out as it was only mentioned once as complimentary to what you posted. Both independently derived. So let's not put oxygen into someone else's shade throwing. |

Pratt went on ranting for about 2 months rallying the morons to get them in panic mode. I think Canucks got tired of the nonsense and announced that they have signed a new contract with SN |

Look enough. Like I said for me be agreeing would mean I need to read your posts and most times I don't . You always have to push the limit. I read some of your stuff but not as much as you think do |

I have no expectations this season and am looking forward to next seasons draft. I don't care if young players make the team, if they aren't ready.
No gifting of spots to the young ones, let's not ruin these kids on this train wreck of a hockey team.
We have 82 games of torture ahead, be prepared. - Renidrag
Thats the outlook indeed.
Lets not over analyze prematurely & simply let the season play out. |
