I agree. I also think that Carolina makes more sense than Mont and NYR. Rangers simply are not a good team. Mont really just has Price going for them. Carolina has a more promising future. Doesn't mean it'll pan out. But that's where I'd take a risk.

Agreed. He'll likely go to an Original Six team or some other well-established big market team, like the Flyers, Kings, or Blues.

I didnt suggest LA was good or that JT would sign with them.

Biggest issue is the money he wants. Not many teams are going to be able to absorb a cap hit of that size.

The Blues, for example, if they signed JT for $12 million per, would have $5-8 million left to sign 9 guys.

Toronto? ~$20 million to sign 9 or 10 guys including William Nylander, with Matthews' and Marner's signings coming the year after that.

Montreal could do it, but again would only have $5-8 Million to fill out 7 roster spots.

Rangers would have $10-15 Million in space to sign 9 players, including RFA's Brady Skjei, J.T. Miller, Kevin Hayes and Jimmy Vesey.

not gunna get in your face like bobd

just curious why you think NYR simply isnt good? I think JT to the rangers is absurd talk atm but if they ever were to add a player like him they would a pretty big contender no? again dont think it will ever happen

youre better than that...

you must know who Shestyorkin is by now... even if he wasnt you dont need a generational goalie to win a cup

Well, we really don't know what money he wants, or the importance of money vs. a chance at the Cup. He's playing it very close to the vest.

its not where CAR or Philly is at but you can admit its heading in the right direction. NY for better or worse doesnt have a hard time courting the FA's and NCAA players like CAR or other teams with deeper pools does so I think that also counts for something

It's not great either, though.

Goalies ARE the ultimate equalizer, luckily, but trading guys like Saarela and Duclair hasn't helped.

I hope he's signed or traded soon just so all the fans of other teams can leave us alone, no offense we appreciate your insights but it would be better off if you weren't here also the canes suck sorry to say it but they aren't that good now Toronto on the other hand has huge potential if they can land a couple of upgrades on the blue line. Also maybe the isles play better this year don't have a terrible start they were a top 3 team recordwise after the all star break last year. Maybe he wants to see how they play and if snow does anything else to improve this team( small chance snow does anything)

Outside chance he makes the big club this year. Guy looked like he was on a different level in Charlotte for the few games he played.

Yeah, those 5 gs in almost 60 games with a team that didn't play defense screams awesome.

Players go through sophomore slumps all the time. He had some great flashes the year before. Also, the team didn't really play much of anything last year.
